Position Summary and Overview
The QC Scientist will utilize IHC/ISH experience and knowledge to ensure that QC tests show product performance to specification. Scientific observations will be made whilst maintaining detailed documentation and ensuring QC Test Validity. Person of contact for QC Product Evaluations.

Major Responsibilities
• Proficient in Microscopy;
o Ability to identify tissue commonly used in QC Testing.
o Ability to assess IHC, ISH and FISH Staining Techniques.
o Slide screening of Class I, II and III Medical Device products.
• Assessment of the technical quality of slide staining, recording test validity and providing approval for product release.
• Identify issues that arise in QC in relation to products and to be able to investigate and resolve problems as they arise in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with Technical Services, Production and R&D teams to investigate non-conforming products.
• Process Non-Conformance Investigations/CAPA/Quality Document Changes.
• Perform duties as an Incoming Quality Control Inspector when required.
• Assist in the Acquisition and Assessment of Incoming Tissue when required.
• Assist QC Improvement implementation.
• Proficient in using laboratory equipment, e.g. pH meters, balances, micropipettes, etc. 
• Prepare reagents and material, ordering consumables and perform other housekeeping tasks in alignment with operational day to day schedule.
• Working in alignment with Good Manufacturing Practices and in accordance with the Human Tissue Authority Policy at all times.
• Quality Control Administration.
• Support Batch Sample Inventory.
• 5S & Daily Management.
• Effectively use Danaher Business System (DBS) tools to drive continuous improvement.

Job Requirements


Required Skills/Experience
• Work experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance environment.
• Experience of working to a recognised Quality Management System (e.g. ISO13485) and following quality procedures including Good Document Practise.
• Histology or immunohistochemistry experience including Microtomy and/or Microscopy.
• Experience with lab equipment e.g. pH meters, balances, micropipettes.

• Good organisational skills and high attention to detail.
• Able to work to deadlines.
• Ability to work alone and within a team.
• Ability to work within a fast paced environment.
• High level of integrity.

Education List of Education, Certifications, Training
• BSc or equivalent qualification in a life science discipline
Travel % of Travel, include approximate overnight stays per week
• Travel expectations within this role are minimal (<10%)
• This role shall be based at Newcastle upon Tyne
