Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process testing and final testing of finished chromatographic media. This individual will be responsible for maintaining key instrumentation to ensure test results are reliable and accurate. This individual will compare data obtained from test results against specification limits and trending patterns to ensure material meets strict quality attributes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform routine testing using a variety of testing methods, including HPLC, GC and MS instrumentation
• Understand and perform elemental analysis and particle size testing on a variety of materials
• Perform IQ/OQ/PQ activities on specific instrumentation to ensure reliable and reproducible results
• Accurately document and compare testing results against control/specification limits
• Identify adverse trends and take the appropriate steps to correct and prevent reoccurrence
• Interact with other departments within the company, as needed, to gather information and communicate updates regarding quality related items.
• Follow all applicable standard operating procedures for work area
• Update, maintain and understand KPI tracking spreadsheets
• Initiate and complete nonconformance reports for failing materials
• Initiate and complete CAPA and IR related activities
• Create, revise and update standard operating procedures
• Create certificate of analysis documentation, if applicable
• Apply knowledge of good laboratory and safety practices on a daily basis
• Participate in new product development and specification setting activities
• Apply “5S” and lean principles in work area
• Assist in third party vendor qualification assessments
• Mentor and train other quality control staff regarding good laboratory practice
• Enforce and follow all safety related policies
• Understand HPLC methodology and principles. Train staff on these principles as needed.
• Apply change control principles to ensure adequate notification of relevant changes
• Understand and support yearly departmental goals
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by customers and/ or management

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelors Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biology or Life Sciences required.
• Ensures all work is accurate and free of errors / defects
• Requires analytical thinking and presenting ideas
• Experience in Microsoft office and Database Management
• Attention to detail, pay specific attention to tasks
• Strong organizational skill, plans and assigns resources in a detailed fashion
• 2 or more years of experience in chromatogram
