Leica Biosystems is seeking a Project Manager to lead projects developing world class applications for medical imaging, particularly in the area of pathology and cancer diagnostics, to improve patients lives.  As a global leader in workflow and pathology imaging, our global development team looks to add project leadership in continued development of our web based image management and sharing solutions.  

The Project Manager is responsible for leading projects from concept inception through release and delivery.  In this role, Leica is seeking someone to lead projects across software development.  This is a highly cross-functional and collaborative role requiring a technical leader adept at communication and execution. This position is heavily focused on customer oriented projects, requiring regular collaboration internallywith the department, externally with other departments, as well as with customers.

The incumbent will work with the Software Team Managers, R&D Project Managers, other team and engineering leads within Leica to define and execute project plans.  The development team is a global team requiring coordination and execution across 3 R&D locations.
The incumbent will lead project prioritization, scoping, planning, scheduling, and execution across multiple teams to satisfy new product delivery objectives and associated priorities with on-going product maintenance.
The incumbent will drive continuous improvement through application of Danaher internal tools and guidelines.

Major Responsibilities 

  • Manage and drive cross-functional software projects
    from end-to-end, covering a range of areas including applications,
    platform, professional services, and Imaging.

  • Developing detailed project plans and schedules,
    assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities,
    identifying appropriate resources needed, and monitoring progress to
    ensure timely completion.

  • Performing resource planning, cost estimation, and cost

  • Work with Leica selling unit leaders on professional
    service projects to assist in project definition, estimation, and scoping.

  • Performing responsibilities under minimal direction
    from manager.

  • Perform overall project management issue tracking and
    risk management including risk analysis and mitigation.

  • Regular customer communication and updates in
    collaboration with product management and customer support teams.

Job Requirements


Required Skills/Experience/Education

  • BS or BA 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing complex projects.
  • Experience in leading large projects within budget and on time.
  • Experience managing and driving multiple location teams, organizations, or projects.
  • Experience in project management best practices.
  • Desired Skills/Experience List of valued, but not required skills and qualifications
  • Experience in commercial product development with familiarity and involvement with the entire SDLC.
  • Experience in the Medical Device/IVD or other regulated environments with experience in design control regulations.
  • Experience in Agile software development processes and methodologies.
  • PMP Certification (PMI) a plus
