Position Summary:

Ensure that Industrial Vessel products are developed and released using the New Production Processes ensuring all products meet their targets for cost, quality and delivery.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce Engineering documentation as required to support requests for quote / customer orders / manufacturing and suppliers including drawings, calculations and procedures .
  • Develop a solid understanding of customer applications within the Industrial Process business 
  • Apply sound scientific and engineering principles to develop robust and cost effective products and processes designed for manufacturability.
  • Communicate project deliverables in terms of risk, cost, time and quality to a broad audience within the company and externally, including senior management, developing mitigation strategies where appropriate to maintain project deliverables.
  • Through a process of continuous improvement develop the New Product Introduction Processes across all disciplines so that time to market can be reduced whilst still ensuring a robust and effective process.
  • Preparation of accurate costing estimates for design proposals in conjunction with manufacturing, Supply Chain and external suppliers.
  • Source and specify materials, components, and assemblies with performance, serviceability, longevity and economy in mind.
  • Preparation of full, clear, and concise specifications for product function for use in internal and external documentation.
  • Perform duties to an agreed program, manage priorities by liaison with Engineering Manager / Director. 
  • Working processes to be in accordance with the Pall Quality Management System.
  • Introduction of new technologies wherever possible which reduce costs and increase time / resource efficencies.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • In depth knowledge and application of Global vessel design codes such as ASME, PED, GB including preparation of calculations and procedures.
  • In depth knowledge of vessel fabrication including inspection of vessels, piping and construction and generally accepted standards for process related equipment..
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong project management, leadership and effective communication skills being able to work effectively in a cross functional and multi-cultural environment.
  • Must have an in depth understanding of the principles of Project Management and how they are effectively applied within a New Product Introduction Process including risk management and mitigation.
  • Must be able to multi-task across one or more projects at any one time either individually or as part of a cross functional team. As part of this you must be able to recognize timescale issues thereby developing and implementing corrective actions to ensure the deadlines are met.
  • Filtration / Vessel application and sizing experience with the Industrial Process market such as Fuel / Chemicals, Offshore and Energy market segments.
  • Sound knowledge of major manufacturing processes including welding and assembly techniques within a low / medium volume manufacturing environment. 

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Science. Preferably Chartered Engineer / Professional with membership of a relevant Engineering Institution.
  • 2+ year's Engineering experience

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software for the creation of drawings and models. Preferably Solidworks.
  • Experience of project tracking including cost budgeting; spend analysis, resource allocation, risk identification and mitigation.
  • Experience of a new product introduction process design / project management coupled with design knowledge of fabricated vessels, welded structures, seal mechanisms and pressure vessels.
  • Travel both within the US and abroad therefore a current driving licence and passport are essential.
  • Work reasonable unpaid overtime and unsociable hours if program objectives dictate.
