Description

Position Summary

The Programme Manager is responsible for the initiation, planning, delivery and closure of new product development projects – on time; to specification; to product cost; within planned budget. These product development projects will have small development teams (typically <6 engineers) and involve a significant software engineering content. In some cases the engineering effort will be almost entirely software and may involve both embedded and cloud based solutions. The Programme Manager may also lead cost reduction or product quality improvement projects on existing product range.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


• Lead cross-functional project teams

• Develop and maintain an integrated schedule, product specification, product cost model, risk assessment, resource plan and budget

• Lead the execution of the project including tradeoff decisions; identification of risks and issues; problem solving; negotiate and ensure availability of resources.

• Ensure project compliance with international standards and regulatory requirements

•  Capture the requirements and manage the expectation of key stakeholders

•  Conduct phase toll gate and monthly management reviews

•  Where required take role of Product Owner within a small agile/Scrum team

•  Where necessary, on smaller projects, act as product engineer  - carrying out product level testing and creating product documentation.

Education and/or Experience

 

• 3+ years Product Development experience with cross-functional exposure in a relevant high-tech industry

• Demonstrated success in leading at least one project or major part of a project – perhaps in project engineering role -  from conception to launch

• Degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent

• Experience of working with software development engineers or teams, and have an understanding of agile software development processes
