Description

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Production Manager is responsible for the daily management of their Production Team; direct the activities of a team in pursuit of world class customer service, measured by Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Supports the DBS (Danaher Business System) culture through the team to ensure smooth business growth, increase of productivity, and improvement of quality and optimization of inventory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Daily production performance, including safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity
  • Management of people to fulfil production plan
  • Resource planning to meet demand profile
  • Facilitate resolution of production problems to achieve on-time delivery
  • Ensure products are built to relevant quality standards
  • Champion Health & Safety in the manufacturing area
  • Control labour inputs within budget constraints
  • Implement continuous improvement projects as agreed with Operations Manager
  • Conduct regular safety & 5S audits and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken including follow-up investigations for all safety
  • Lead Associate Engagement feedback sessions, develop & implement improvement plans
  • Accountable for the management of overhead and direct cost expenditure within annual capital expenditure budgets. Accountable for consumable and labour costs. 
  • HR matters as agreed with the Operations Manager: responsible/accountable for all HR related issues in the employee life cycle. Evaluate Associates performance and conduct reviews. Coach, train and counsel associates to improve performance.  Work closely with the Human Resources Manager.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Supervisory role with hourly employees.
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment  
  • Knowledge of a variety of operational excellence competencies including yet not limited to: 

o   Toyota Production System Tools, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Policy
Deployment, One-piece Flow, Kaizen, Six Sigma






Skills

The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Basic financial knowledge
  • Very good command of MS-Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
