Product Development Engineer




Role:


As an engineer in our product development department you will use your creativity, system and sub-specialty engineering skills to sustain, improve and develop instruments that help scientists unravel the complexities of cell biology.  Challenges will range from sustaining established product designs to translating market needs into new product concepts.  Visit www.moleculardevices.com to explore our broad range of life science laboratory instrumentation products.

Your first year’s objectives may include the following:




  • Lead a product development project – ideation, planning, development, verification, validation, production transfer and launch of a new, best-in-class product.

  • Become the design authority for a range of products.

  • Become an expert with Danaher Business System tools such as Visual Project Management, the Problem Solving Process, and Design for Reliability (including FMEA) and use them to make sustainable improvements to product quality, delivery and cost.



Job Requirements



Qualifications

Qualifications:





  • Proficient in one or more of the core product development engineering disciplines such as electronics, mechanical, software, or firmware.  Desirable:  Altium, SolidWorks or Visual Studio experience.

  • Readily grasp the fundamentals of the applications for which scientists use our products and the engineering implications thereof.

  • Have planned and managed several projects to success.

  • Knack for problem solving and troubleshooting.

  • User of a range of scientific instrumentation in a lab setting.

  • Learns the theory of operation underlying instrumentation performance.

  • Experienced with design controls and engineering change management -- design reviews; PDM; ECOs.

  • Sense of urgency / immediate impact – quickly assesses new situations; prioritizes the critical few tasks.

  • Well organized – uses time and resources effectively.

  • Results oriented – has track record for delivery results, takes ownership and is accountable.

  • Leadership and followership – communicates openly and clearly; understands, influences and engages others to get input and buy- in; treats all associates with respect; earns their trust.

  • BS, MS or PhD in a scientific or engineering field – a life science a plus.

  • Relevant industry experience.
