Goal of the position:
The Principle Scientist conducts Research and engages in New Product Development(NPD) of advanced filtration products. As a Pall assignee at IMEC, he/she designs and executes experiments to evaluate Pall filtration products. Collaborates with IMEC and other IMEC member companies on behalf of Pall per the Joint Development agreement. Conducts hands-on experiments at IMEC, analyses on-wafer defects, understands and shares the results and analysis with Pall Microelectronics global teams to help accelerate filter development. Coordinates technical review meetings with IMEC and other member companies, conducts filtration seminars.

  • The Principle Scientist conducts research, evaluates Pall filtration products at IMEC and shares the test results with global Pall technical teams for the improvement and acceleration of new product development (NPD) process;
  • He/she interacts with IMEC and other member companies to solve technical problems and issues related filtration and defectivity in semiconductor processing;
  • He/she defines, designs and executes experimental plans for evaluating the performance of filters, reports on milestone achievements and write technical reports;
  • The Principle Scientist drives strategic initiatives to aid new product development projects using infrastructure and processes at IMEC;
  • He/she represents Pall at International conferences, write joint papers with IMEC and other member companies, promotes collaboration opportunities;
  • He/she leads a group of R&D scientists to innovate and develop new technologies to create new ideas that enable New Product Development;
  • The Principle Scientist maintains collaborations with other research and academic entities that enable breakthrough innovation;
  • He/she utilizes sound fundamentals like Design of Experiments (DOE); leads project teams and task forces;
  • He/she communicates clearly to leadership, team members, customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders;  
  • He/she works with global teams by overcoming cultural and language barriers and aptitude to go above and beyond to provide cohesion among project teams;
  • The Principle Scientist studies and learns the fundamental technology of a wide variety of filtration products, processes and equipment;
  • He/she Leverages global R&D and engineering resources in other time zones;
  • He/she Participates in teleconferences during off hours;
  • Requires travel internationally.

Job Requirements


Education, Skills and Competencies:
  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Chemical/Electrical or other Engineering discipline, Chemistry, Material Science or Polymer Science;
  • 5-10 years of work experience in Semiconductor industry;
  • Minimum Five (5) years of experience in Advanced Photolithography(Fabs, Material Suppliers/OEMs) required;
  • Strong background and understanding of lithography processes from technical and market point of view;
  • Demonstrates good understanding of linkage of lithography process to overall IDM process;
  • Experience with state-of-the-art wafer inspection, defect metrology and analysis techniques;
  • Knowledge of Filtration and Filter applications and characterization in Lithography is highly desirable;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required; 
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities with dynamic timelines is highly desirable;
  • Experience with working in a highly technical organization interacting with scientists and technical personnel including sales and field service professionals is preferred;
  • Leadership: ability to influence decision making with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, bring teams to agreement. High tolerance for ambiguity;
  • Communication:  Interpersonal skills that build productive relationships and influence others, both within the business and across organizations.  Ability to interact with all levels of the business (senior leaders to working teams), exceptionally good listening skills, able to present complex or new ideas with clarity and simplicity;
  • Teamwork:  collaborate effectively with others in the spirit of common objectives;
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data. Innovative and effective solution development, risk mitigation and execution;
  • Experience speaking an Asian language and adaptability to other cultures is a plus.
