The Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for managing the design, development, qualification, and sustainment of electrical-mechanical products and technologies as a member of a global technology group. You will act as the electrical design authority to ensure product quality, performance, and compliance.

The incumbent will be expected to engage and direct the activities of a cross-functional team of technical professionals including Design Engineers, Designer, Technical Writers, Configuration Control Specialists, and Staff Scientists as necessary to provide technical direction, project management, and leadership for your assigned programs. 

You will also be expected to work closely with sales, program management, operations, scientific laboratory services, and external suppliers, providing leadership as necessary to ensure the success of your assigned programs

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Act as design authority for all matters relating to electrical-mechanical products and technologies.
  • Lead technology projects rigorously adhering to the NPI design process.
  • Continuously improve electrical-mechanical capabilities, practice, and resources.
  • Drive risk mitigation activities and mitigation for assigned projects.
  • Ensure quality and on-time-delivery of assigned proposals or projects.
  • Provide cross-functional support and obtain buy-in for assigned programs from external customers, sales, engineering, operations and quality to ensure success.
  • Demonstrate conformance to customer requirements.
  • Perform/lead logistics analysis activities (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Reliability Prediction, Time to Repair, etc.).
  • Prepare development test plans and procedures to mitigate technical risk.
  • Prepare qualification/certification test plans and procedures to verify designs and/or obtain airworthiness approval.
  • Engage technical resources (analysts, writers, etc.), both internal and external, in a timely manner to mitigate risks, validate product and ensure project success.
  • Fully understand all Engineering Operations Procedures.
  • Travel (0 - 20%) is required, both domestic and international.

Job Requirements


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent major
  • 10+ years working experience developing analog and digital sensors for industrial or aerospace applications
  • Experience developing electrical schematics, PCBs, firmware, and test/qualification protocols and systems
  • Experience with LabVIEW or similar electronic control 
  • Experience certifying products with UL, IEC, and other global certification agencies
