Description

Position Overview:

The Purchasing & Planning Manager runs all activities related to supporting the supply chain process including: MRP, Demand Planning, Site Cut Capacity Planning, raw material purchasing, and component management. The Manager will introduce and implement standard methodologies and repeatable processes into the planning functions with a focus on reducing costs, improving efficiencies, maximizing supplier relationships and ultimately ensuring business objectives are met. Develops the inventory strategy and risk mitigation plan in support of the Site product master plan. Leads people and projects through Danaher Business System (DBS) and Danaher Materials System (DMS).



Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Proficient with ERP computerized systems and computer-literate, systems oriented. Efficient handling and understanding of spreadsheets, reports.
  • Supervisory skills and Team oriented: Gives decision-making and other responsibilities to the appropriate employee. Work effectively with others, inside and outside the line of formal authority, to accomplish organization goals and to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of the other related disciplines.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, detailed, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives
  • Chips in to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
  • Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. External contacts include: Customers and vendors, outside auditors, Pall Corporation management and executive among others.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes the requirements for site products received through forecasts, orders, and other forms of demand; identifies and communicates capacity or other constraints that may impact the supply of product to meet demand and work with Management and Purchasing to develop mitigation plans.
  • Leads the Materials Procurement (Planning and Buying materials) processes, Inventory Management Process and Supplier Resources Management.
  • Find opportunities and propose & implement these through DBS & DMS.
  • Is a guide in Lean Conversion, Kanban, Kaizen, +QDIP boards, Standard work and other DBS & DMS tools
  • Evaluate stock levels for each SKU and ensure that the levels are set to achieve high level of customer service.
  • Evaluates, recommends and approves outside suppliers purchases and contracts to guarantee optimization of business assets.
  • Run the development of achievable production schedules that optimize inventory and plant objectives.
  • Work with Purchasing to set stocking levels for Components that will ensure high-level of production availability while achieving inventory objectives.
  • Liaison with Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Global Supply Chain and Commercial Organization on all aspects of site Product lines.
  • Develop ramp up and ramp down plans and track progress for new and enhanced products to minimize obsolescence and optimize service levels.
  • Oversee exempt or non-exempt personnel.
  • Build and maintain delivery schedules to communicate to the warehouse.
  • Maintain plan in system to accurately communicate requirements to Purchasing.
  • Participate in the Sales and Operations Planning process as required.
  • Track and communicate key metrics including schedule adherence, service level, and inventory level.
  • Analyze and report on issues that chip in to misses on the key metrics
  • Develops and initiate new systems and procedures to increase efficiency and control on the inventory, material utilization, customer service and other planning related areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Director
  • Gives to team effort by accomplishing related results; keeping business information confidential; coordinating the system security; ensuring data accuracy and integrity; maintaining updated professional and technical knowledge; assuring systems compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate standards; ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Follows QRS, ISO and all applicable regulations and company procedures.
  • Acknowledge and maintain commitment with the environmental policy, and participate actively in the environmental programs to achieve the objectives and targets with their area.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or Bachelor in Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment; with responsibility in Materials Management, Purchasing, Production Activity Control/Capacity Planning, MRP and Scheduling related functions.
  • Experience with Manufacturing and Packaging processes Planning, Shop Floor Control and Demand Management.
  • SAP Experience

  • Experience with ISO 9000 or cGMP
  • APICS certification
