Description

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Make a difference - join us to ensure water quality for people around the world. Provide leadership, direction and hands on involvement while managing personnel and processes involved in areas of responsibility. The Operations Manager is responsible for multiple production areas driving the continuous improvement of processes and systems in support of strategic and policy deployment objectives (or KPI’s). Including safety initiatives, production capacity planning, productivity improvements, capital project support, risk analysis, and new product/process definition with R&D. This position will have several managers reporting to them.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Responsible for managing daily issues in their Areas
  • Responsible for managing and mentoring of Supervisors, professional staff, and/or production associates
  • Accountable for process improvements to achieve KPI goals for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, productivity and engagement
  • Identify and provide recommendations for the selection of improvement projects
  • Participate in, facilitate, and/or train kaizen or improvement project teams
  • Responsible for establishing and meeting project quality, delivery, and cost objectives
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with 21 CFR Part 820 Quality System Regulations for regulated product lines and development efforts.
  • Represents the manufacturing area for internal and external quality system audits, directs subject matter experts. Participates in audit preparation, execution and follow up actions.
  • Develop and implement effective means of communication.
  • Interface effectively with other Managers to achieve overall goals using shared resources
  • Complete performance and development reviews for direct report associates
  • Work with R&D and Business Unit teams on manufacturability, capability, reliability reviews
  • Manage labor capacity and cross-training plan for increased labor flexibility
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for new business opportunities
  • Monitor departmental budgets and assist in defining annual operating and capital budgets. Has budgetary approval responsibility.
  • Perform benchmarking studies as required
  • Drive “Best Practices” in all areas of responsibility
  • Assist in the development of the strategic plan in support of areas of responsibility
  • Create and lead KPI reviews, daily management, lead visual management process to support Level 3 objectives
  • Support as needed, manufacturing requirements for suppliers
  • Support key account and other special customer requests

Job Requirements



Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a talented professional who can develop talent, foster innovation and deliver results. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical (physical science or engineering) or business related field
  • 5 or more years of experience in direct supervisory or facilitation (also experience with cross-functional work groups)
  • 5 or more years of experience working in manufacturing setting
SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of quality principles and tools (problem analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, control charts, and other quality methodologies)
  • Excellent knowledge of people development
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with a variety of people at various technical and management levels
  • Proficient computer skills (work processing, spreadsheets, graphics, statistical tools, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or six-sigma a plus
