Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Plant Operations Manager (2nd Shift) oversees all manufacturing processes and management of departments, including safety awareness.  This position also supports DBS implementation through Standard Work, the Problem-Solving Process and Kaizen event suggestions and participation.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Implements DBS fundamental tools with a heavy focus on daily management, continual improvement, and problem solving.

  • Contributes to the management of shipping; receiving; production; and returnable container management

  • Evaluate and modify finished good Min/Max inventory levels; update balance adjustments; and conduct audits; cycle counting

  • Manages development and review of Emergency Contingency Plans

  • Acts as Onsite Emergency Coordinator and Liaison to Emergency Response Providers (Fire, Medical and Environmental Agencies)

  • Develops annual operations budget; identifying capital and facility maintenance costs; and identifying/implementing cost minimization practices

  • Ensure compliance with SOP; improve employee job skills; provide specialized training and seminars

  • Enforce policy; maintain documentation; and ensure compliance with EMS (ISO14001), HSMS, and QMS (ISO 9001), work with Compliance Conformance Manager and associated staffs

SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assist with Recruitment; Hiring; Staffing; Performance Appraisals; and Employee Development

  • Participate in corrective and preventative action practices as it relates to product quality

  • Identification and proper handling of hazardous waste

  • Establish and maintain relationships with Local Contractors; management and oversee work performed by building, service and transportation related contractors

  • Field customer/sales inquiries; resolve customer/sales issues; support decision making process customers and sales

  • Develops the 1 to 5 Year Capital Appropriations Plan; oversees project management; develops plant expansion needs to match operations growth

  • Awareness of ChemTreat EMS policy and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned

  • overtime as required.

  • 29 CFR OSHA; 49 CFR DOT; IATA Certified

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred

  • 2 - 5 years of Industrial Management/Supervisory Experience

  • Lean Manufacturing Experience

  • QMS (Quality Management System) experience

  • EMS (Environmental Management System) experience

  • HAZWOPER

  • Experience in inventory management

  • Forklift inspection, operation and training experience

  • Microsoft Office and CRT/data entry

  • Must be fully trained in all departments of Plant Operations

  • CDL preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


  • Constantly required to sit and occasionally required to walk, stand, climb (includes stairs), balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell

  • Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards.

  • Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, squat, turn/twist, or reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds and sometimes required to maneuver drums weighing 250-800 pounds

  • Required to be medically cleared to wear a respirator and be physically able to perform all essential manual job functions performed by Plant Operations associates

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT


  • Office Environment 30%; Plant Environment 70%

  • This is a specialty chemical blending and packaging facility where hazardous materials are present.

  • Will be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures and work space restrictions.

  • Required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective apron, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields.

  • The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

  • Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.
