Description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our testing team. Your role will be as a test engineer for our line of weather software products. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of what the industry considers world-class meteorological and environmental software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify and document software and usability defects.
  • Estimate time to test specific defects and requirements.
  • Attend daily meetings with software engineers and track testing progress to completion.
  • Test software programs against known customer requirements.
  • Create test cases and identify appropriate test data.
  • Works with company subject matter experts as necessary on recommendations for product improvement.
  • Helps with monitoring National Weather Service change notices to determine potential future impacts on LEADS software.
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and related tools.
  • Working knowledge of shell scripting.
  • Working knowledge of Perl or other scripting language.
  • Excellent knowledge of Internet/Web technologies, such as web browsers, http, and html.
  • Knowledge of C/C++, a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Team player mentality is a must, as there is daily interaction with software engineers and other key personnel in the company
  • Attention to detail and established processes is also required.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to test efficiently and be very thorough to verify repeatability in test results.
  • Assume individual tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • A good working knowledge of meteorology gained through experience and/or a formal degree is desired.
  • Knowledge of aviation meteorology is preferred.
  • A background in software engineering will be taken into consideration, as we look to automate some more of our regression test procedures.
