Key Responsibilities:

- Responsible for and owner of all accelerated product development and VAVE mechanical designs

- Ensure these meet agreed project KPI’s including quality, performance, time and cost by ensuring robust design, design review, verification and validation occurs through robust process

- Responsible for ensuring new products are in a regulatory compliant state at launch

- Responsible for driving continual motivation, critical thinking, best practice, technical competence and a sense of urgency into the mechanical team

- Own and continually improve the engineering department mechanical engineering and regulatory compliance standard processes including standard toolsets (CAD, PDM, FEA etc)

- Ensure products stay in a fit for sale state from a regulatory perspective

- Work with the Research team to bring new technologies to Linx

- Technical specialist on all mechanical engineering matters within the Engineering Department

- Ensure a safe working environment is maintained by closing out risks and then sustaining change

- Be a hands on manager and problem solver

- Have a sense of urgency and non-acceptance of personal and team mediocrity

- Genuine interest in engineering and an inquiring mind

- Well executed standard processes covering design review, verification and risk management

- Have a motivated team who follow because of leadership from the front and not because of management

- Create a good balance between risk management and product development time to market

- Successful launch of new products measured by time to market, first time production pass rate and out of box quality

Job Requirements


- Strong Honours Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering

Chartered Engineer

- Detailed technical knowledge on topics including mechanical engineering from first principles (specifically solid, thermo and fluid mechanics), complex system integration, analytical skills and problem solving ability

- Design of products using CAE tools incorporating the integration of mechanics, electronics and software

- Leadership of mechanical teams

- Able to demonstrate extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, to design and develop mechanical components and systems within the Engineering department of a commercial company

- Able to demonstrate extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams designing and developing products incorporating electronic, software and mechanical components and systems within the Engineering department of a commercial company

- Able to demonstrate technical team leadership either as an engineering/R&D department head or project manager within a product development environment

- Able to demonstrate project management skills

- High level experience in using a 3D CAD and the use and management of a PDM system.

- Able to demonstrate robust fundamental mechanical engineering skills

- Ambitious and Results focused

- Highly intellectual but continuously improving
