Mechanical Engineer/Designer

Position Objective 

Engineer, design and propose filtration and separation pressure vessel and pressure vessel internals to meet Customer’s requirements.  Support outside sales and project management to identify and define customer requirements

Job Functions
  • Produce Engineering documentation and designs as required to support requests for quote / customer orders / manufacturing and suppliers including drawings, calculations and procedures. 
  • Develop a solid understanding of customer applications within the Industrial Process business  
  • Apply sound engineering principles to develop robust and cost effective products and processes designed for manufacturability. 
  • Responsible for review and interpretation of customer’s technical specifications, and discussion/development of those documents with the customer. 
  • Performs appropriate calculations to develop a mechanical/process design that will meet customer requirements.  Selects/designs equipment that can support the mechanical/process design.   
  • Develops manufacturing execution plan, schedule, material and labor cost estimates.  
  • Supports the process description, scope description, technical exceptions and clarifications to bid documents, and technical drawing package for formal proposal to the customer before and after the sale.   
  • Travels for a variety of reasons in support of sales; tour customer’s facility, review customer’s designs, explain the proposed equipment when proposals are being evaluated, and review the project in detail with the multidisciplinary design team once an order is entered. 
  • Provides technical support / context during project execution.   
  • Provides technical support / context to service team during system installation.  
  • Assists with equipment warranty claims.    
  • Stays abreast of technology in key applications areas.
  • Travel is required < 25%. 

Job Requirements


Basic Qualifications
  • AS degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • 5+ years' experience industrial mechanical engineering/design
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years' experience industrial mechanical engineering/design,  
  • Must possess strong industrial mechanical design/engineering skills.   
  • Must be able to deal effectively with associates at all levels of the organization. 
  • Must possess experience reading and interpreting technical specifications, and familiarity with process and mechanical drawing sets.   
  • Experience with filtration equipment preferred.   
  • Experience with ASME code, pressure vessels, and filtration in the Energy and Refining market an advantage. 
  • Experience dealing directly with customers and sales organization on capital projects is an advantage.
