Description

We are currently seeking an Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Huntingdon, United Kingdom.
 
Purpose of the Position:
A Design engineer who can provide functional, robust and ergonomic mechanical designs from marketing specifications and provide technical solutions to engineering problems within the development of industrial ink jet printers.
This engineer would be responsible for producing 3D models and all manufacturing documentation to support the design, including 2D component drawings, assembly drawings, specifications and bills of materials.
Key Responsibilities:
  • System-level and detailed design of complex mechanical, electromechanical ink jet components such as; print head, cabinet, ink systems using various materials including both metal and plastic parts
  • 3D and component design exploiting sound engineering principles using Solid Works CAD package.
  • Production of manufacturing documents (drawings, specs etc)
  • Administration of CAD and PDM system
  • Conduct feasibility & tolerance analysis for all mechanical designs.
  • Conduct, document and analyze laboratory tests and track data pertaining to verification of designed components / systems
  • Participate, and where necessary be responsible for, technical reviews, feasibility studies and project reviews as appropriate, and to provide/direct technical support for other departments, if required.
  • Participate as a member of the ATG Group and carry out any functions that are necessary in support of the departmental/Director. Actively support the administration of R&D management (including status reporting, quality systems, project management and job costing); ensure that information is accurate and timely.
  • Ensure that the products are developed to be safe and reliable and comply with relevant national & international standards

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
  • Experience of working in a laboratory and designing experiments.
  • Analytical, evidence driven approach
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to get practical results.
  • Product development experience gained in a high tech industry R&D environment is desirable.
  • Familiarity with CAD packages such as Solidworks at a sufficient level to draught quick solutions and communicate ideas would be an advantage.
