Description

Mechanical Design Engineers are responsible for aspects of complex projects related to product design and development, with focus on innovative mechanical and electromechanical medical devices that address customer needs. As part of the new product development team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to next generation products. 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Works on a cross-functional project team through all phases of the product development process. 
  • Includes planning and executing projects from concept through the launch. 
  • Work closely with other members of the project team and physicians to define user needs, generate design concepts and develop detail designs.
  • Performs design and analysis with limited guidance (such as tolerance analysis, FEA, DOE's, simulated use testing, etc.), and supports development of product and process validation plans and testing.
  • Works with manufacturing engineering and suppliers to produce prototypes and optimize designs for manufacturability. 
  • Executes limited patent searches to understand current state of the art and potential white space. 
  • Contributes to business value through innovation and patent filing.
  • May be responsible for accomplishing work through outside resources (e.g., consultants, contractors, design suppliers).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years' related work experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (or related field equivalent) with mechanical emphasis is required; Advanced degree in field is desirable
  • Skilled in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., Solidworks) required.
  • Medical device experience preferred.
  • Experience in biomedical engineering research or material selection preferred
