Description

The Materials Research Manager is responsible for managing materials related projects within the Materials Research & Surface Technologies team. A key aspect of the role is a broad knowledge in general materials science.  To ensure reliable product supply and `best in class’ current and future dental products the candidate must have a wide understanding of material properties. The position further requires expertise on material specification establishment and handling within a regulated environment. Another aspect of the role is to provide support for root cause analysis and cross functional interactions.

Main tasks:
  • Responsible to define and control release of material requirements and specifications (e.g. in alignment with MDR).
  • Establish collaboration product development, procurement and regulatory affairs on material sourcing database
  • Establish a global network with internal and external collaborators, suppliers and vendors to achieve a state-of-the-art materials specification and classification database. 
  • Stay up to date with the latest releases of regulation requirements for materials (REACH, MDR; Prop65, etc.). 
  • Contribute to the development of the Materials Research and Surface Technologies team to achieve the teams strategy as defined by the business needs.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, execution, and coordination of all materials analysis activities.
  • Failure analysis and complaints investigations of retrievals while using the analysis trends to provide feedback to product development. 
  • International travel activity: approximately 5-10%

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree required in Materials Sciences or Materials Engineering or related field.
  • A PhD qualification is preferred
  • Experience working in a materials research and/or regulatory environment within the Medical Device Industry.
  • Fluent in English, other languages are an advantage
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the capacity to lead, plan, organize and implement multiple concurrent projects and tasks within cross-functional and multi-cultural teams (matrix organization).
  • Pro-active and independent working style with a strong sense of responsibility and problem-solving working attitude.
  • Highly motivated and service driven personality with emotional intelligence skills.
  • Outstanding planning, organization and communication skills
  • 3+ years relevant experience working in an analytical/testing environment; in the Medical Device Industry is a plus.
