Description

For acquisition OpCos, finding an internal candidate within the OpCo may be ideal (i.e., the candidate meets requirements, has credibility and just needs a solid DBS Immersion) as well as DMS and the material’s side of the business.  This position is also seen as an outstanding way for an external hire to learn DBS and can leverage this learning in their next Danaher role.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, as the DBSO Materials Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of the site’s inventory management, DMS and IMAG activities, and warehouse, shipping, and material handling efforts; as well as leading the DBS mission of the plant. 
  • Responsible for inventory including but not limited to: gross and net inventory levels, quick turns, inventory adjustments, cycle count activities from implementation to accuracy, physical inventory activities and accuracy.
  • Work with strategic sourcing to provide support and influence supplier decisions that impact inventory levels held in Grand Island.
  • Introduce inventory management techniques that result in improved accuracy and efficiency of inventory related activities.
  • The role requires strong developmental leadership abilities to work with, coach, develop and mentor a team through all areas of warehouse, cage, shipping and inventory with a strong focus on continuous and performance improvement.
  • An experienced understanding of the RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Actions) and Counter Measures (CM) processes via. PSP and Action Plan implementation
  • Strong understanding and usage of Lean tools and principles, particularly DMS.
  • Represent the site on DMS activities with DBS office, Strategic Sourcing, and multi-site DMS related efforts.
  • Direct management of warehouse and shipping team.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in QDCI (Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation) that is tied to Policy Deployment (PD) and Daily Management (DM) by leveraging DBS tools, consulting skills, and the change management process.
  • Assist site / company Leadership in the development of a DBS Roadmap, provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching, facilitate other DBS training sessions when appropriate (other trainers and consultants from Danaher, Shingijutsu or other).
  • Be an active Leader in PD and Daily Management reviews (as appropriate)
  • Ensure successful kaizen events by installing and ensuring compliance to the kaizen process (includes; (1) planning of kaizens with a dynamic funnel process tied to PD and Daily Management, (2) kaizen execution and (3) sustainment of kaizens).
  • Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate DBS tools to eliminate them
  • Improve DBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in DBS tools (MBB process for self and others).
  • Benchmark and incorporate best practices from other Danaher locations.

  • Inventory location and Kanban management
  • Transaction accuracy and efficiency
  • Manage E&O levels, disposition, and forecasting
Warehouse / Shipping / Material Handling
  • Management of personnel
  • Receiving accuracy and efficiency
  • Shipping accuracy, efficiency, and DC process error control
  • Ensure effective utilization of warehouse foot print
  • Transaction accuracy and efficiency
DBS
  1. Own DBS Road Map and Action Items
  2. Own Kaizen and Shin events and provide training to other associates in the plant
  3. Promote and train with DBS within the plant 
Organizational
  • Deploy site goals and targets by setting individual targets for direct reports, coordinate additional DMS related goals with Factory Focus Managers
  • Organize DMS efforts with DBS office and manage IMAG process with supporting functions that are not direct reports
  • Actively participate in management meetings, active member of CI improvement as needed.
