The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will guide the development, planning, organizing, and direct the implementation of engineering activities for the site that include multiple production value streams (assembly, formulations & filling and continuous production processes). This role is instrumental in the execution of design, validation and continuous improvement across manufacturing and production processes and manufacturing equipment. This position provides effective and efficient support of existing products and the launch of new products into the production environment.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and enable an engineering plan to improve production processes, implement upgrades in equipment and layout changes to optimize production flow and efficiency, expanded capacity to support growth and improve product quality.
  • Lead the on-time and on-budget execution of manufacturing and process engineer projects and activities that reduce safety risks, improve product quality, enhance delivery capabilities and support cost improvements
  • Lead the site master Validation Program including constructing and executing validation testing on equipment and process modifications. Responsible for ensuring ongoing design and documentation of process and operation changes.
  • Oversee the development and execution of testing protocols to evaluate production methods to improve consistency and reduce variation
  • Evaluate and select equipment to support process upgrades and new product introductions
  • Partner with R&D as part of manufacturing transfer and scale up for new product introductions
  • Engage with manufacturing teams to find opportunities and provide improved production capabilities
  • Manage department and project budgets and implementation schedules to plan and forecast
  • Develop staff and improve capabilities/talent of the organization to meet current and future business needs.
  • Use the Danaher business system to execute engineering activities

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related degree;

  • Min 5 years of experience in Medical Device Industry or other FDA regulated industry

  • 3+ years of leadership and management experience, preferably as a leader of engineers.

  • Experience building teams and promoting collaboration

  • Experience with designing, layout, testing and validating production processing and equipment

  • Experience developing and leading a multi-year improvement roadmap leveraging tolls to innovation, ideation and engaging team to deliver on differentiated products

  • Experience implementing and using production statistics such as CpK, Ppk, DOE,

  • Experience working with and supporting manufacturing in a cGMP regulated environment

  • Hands-on experience using lean manufacturing and/or a business system to deliver results

  • Demonstrate sound project planning and technical leadership to successfully manage multiple priorities across activities and projects including, usage of outsourced contractors and service providers and selecting equipment vendors

  • Proficient in CAD software tools like AutoCAD, Solid Works, PCAD, ORCAD and PADS preferred

  • Willingness to spend a significant amount of time on the manufacturing floor to understand opportunities and develop methods for improvement

  • Must be motivated and have strong interpersonal skills including, the ability to influence and inspire change.

  • Fosters and champions continuous improvement by being present at Gemba and leading through hands on application

  • Is a trusted advisor who using sound judgement and demonstrates humility and self-awareness

  • Demonstrate process and product Verification/Validation using URS, IQ, OQ and PQ

  • Experience and understanding of GMP, ISO, FDA, Product and Process Risk Assessment & FMEA, DFM
