Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will identify, plan, implement and control activities related to equipment and process in order to improve or correct operational performance.  Ensures production goals are met through the service and support to the operations department.  Major KPI’s for the position are improving OEE (Equipment uptime, process capability improvement, First time Quality)
  • Manages the manufacturing engineering team and is responsible for the engineering efforts over specific product lines.
  • Oversees engineering projects. Empowers direct reports (Manufacturing Engineers) to identify an implement projects individually, standardize engineering practices and operating work instructions. Set standards to ensure safety of engineering department.
  • Schedule shutdown activities and projects. Provide overall direction for execution of these projects.
  • Hire and coach personnel to ensure a knowledgeable, motivated and competent team. Ensure they meet their business and personal development objectives
  • Utilize operational resources and participate in material selection standards development
  • Ensures the engineering ream and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively.
  • Design and implement methods and processes in production to establish standard workflow rate and improve efficiency
  • Responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process.
  • Reviews, evaluates and implements engineering changes and specification requirements.
  • Identify, manage and implement projects assuring delivery of tangible improvements and savings
  • Responsible for all output of the engineers for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensures company, quality manual, and engineering department policies and procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate and manage manufacturing engineering projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
  • Implement and report engineering metrics to establish process capability, process capacity and efficiency.
  • Assist the maintenance department in the day to day equipment troubleshooting and issues.
  • Able to assist in the design and oversee installation of new equipment, including ability to calculate capacity and labor needs for normal operating conditions.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of ten years’ professional experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Must have experience in  cost control, safety, and quality systems
  • Three to five years’ experience in direct management and supervision of large teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to  plan for short, mid and long range goals
  • Experience identifying and implementing improvements to processes, tools and tooling.
  • Experience in implementation and use of Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing a plus
  • Experience in all aspects of engineering project management.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in oral and written forms at any level within the organization and interact effectively with customers and external business professionals
  • Strong program/project management, leadership, team building and mentoring skills.  Must be able to drive business relevant projects and ensure a positive impact for both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and remain flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Knowledgeable in materials properties
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills 
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Perform other duties as assigned
