This is a key role at our R&D & manufacturing facility of Molecular Devices (Austria) GmbH located in Salzburg, that will support the manufacturing and NPI (New Product Introduction) processes in order to continuously improve high level of internal and external product quality. 

You will be working closely with cross functional teams, you will drive continuous improvements in current processes and products. You will be supporting, solving and documenting instrument issues from local all company sites.
You will build and coordinate relationships internally with main stakeholders in Molecular Devices (Austria) GmbH and in strong cooperation with all other operations locations within Molecular Devices (San Jose and Shanghai) as well as Service and Tech Support organization.

Key Responsibilities:
• Customer complain investigation, responsible for product quality improvement and improving external quality performance (OBQ & WTY)
• Investigate and resolve any quality issue during manufacturing
• Drive product quality improvement through process development and design changes internally and with suppliers
• Engineering change evaluation and implementation (ECR handling)
• Utilize lean tools such as Standardized Work, PSP, and Waste Elimination in driving process improvements to improve efficiency
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing for external/internal quality issues and therefore gain deep knowledge of assembly and testing of the products in production
• Participant the NPI project at early stage, mainly contribute from manufacturing perspective (e.g. MFG process capability, LCR suppliers’ technical capability, minor design outsourcing), and bridge the NPI process between R&D and Operation
• Management of Manufacturing Prototype phase and Pilot phases during new product introductions 
• Control of manufacturing related inspection, measuring and test equipment considering economic and safety related aspects
• Define training steps and perform training for new employees and manufacturing as well as for transfer of new products. Create training documents and result explanations for manufacturing
• Assist the Production Supervisor in monthly planning, work order processing, inventory and BOM management
• Use initiative and independent judgment to liaison between Production Supervisor and Instrument Technicians.
• Travel domestically or overseas (10%)

Job Requirements


The jobholder should possess the qualifications, experience and skills set out below to meet the requirements of the role as well as embrace the Danaher Values:

• Mandatory – Electrical / electronic / mechanical or similar bachelor’s degree or higher technical school
• Good logical analysis capability, familiar with problem solving tools (e.g. PSP, DMAIC)
• Familiar with using various optical, electronical or mechanical test and measurement tools
• Strong debug and troubleshooting experience in electronical component/PCBA level would be preferred. 
• Driven individual with passion for improving quality of products

• 3-years or above related experience in instrument manufacturing, preferred in bio-analytical instruments
• Experience in system integration of automated electro-mechanical and optical instruments
• Practical “System Engineering” know how (at least as a manufacturing engineer) with good understanding of engineering principles
• Practical experience of introducing new products in manufacturing
• Experience in ERP system Oracle is desirable

• Advanced communication skills (spoken and written) in English and German
• Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude
• Analytical and organized approach to work
• Excellent attention to detail, high standards adopted at all times
• Highly organised with ability to coordinate multiple priorities within demanding and tight timescales
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to read complex mechanical & electronic drawings
• Small component soldering
• Advanced PC skills
• Adaptable, able to evolve with the business

• Must be able to undertake duties including lifting and carrying weights up to 20kg approx.
• Must have flexibility of working hours around worldwide time zones
