Description

The Manager for Transportation in EMENA region is responsible for defining and executing regional strategy in alignment with Hach’s overall Global Transportation strategy while also supporting business objectives and customer needs.  In addition, the Manager for Transportation is is responsible for delivering year over year costs savings for the region, elevated customer experiences and strengthening of our relationships with our transportation partners.
This position will be responsible setting and managing the regional transportation strategy and operations performance; this entails setting direction for the entire freight management team, and being a thought leader for innovations, and multi modal strategies for the region in partnership with the global team.  The position is responsible for supporting the global and regional logistics sourcing strategies and identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships within the region.
The Manager will have 2 direct reports and will report to the Senior Manager – Global Transportation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring faster and on-time delivery of orders to customers and distribution centers by leveraging local and regional carriers.
  • Managing regional carrier performance and SLAs; oversee carrier contract agreement and billing concerns and addressing any issues related to timely and correct delivery.
  • Giving support by providing input like trends according to overall freight budget as part of total global Operations budget including monthly reporting with goal of achieving 2% of total revenue as freight spend.
  • Leveraging data and advanced analytics to monitor and improve transportation zones, order splits, lost in shipping etc. to drive high performance and meet KPI goals.
  • Leading execution of cost saving initiatives; developing solutions for operational concerns; and providing technical expertise on fleet operations to support management.
  • Driving freight recovery process regionally including defining key processes and actions to achieve regional targets.
  • Ensuring processes for managing freight and transport for region are streamlined and efficient and support overall cost reduction efforts.
  • Maintain critical data to support daily management of freight and logistics processes including import product list, inbound item registration, data specified in goods receipt list and updating specific statistic related to freight spend in multiple IT systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate review of freight invoices
  • Developing a highly skilled and engaged team; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
     

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related discipline (Transportation, Warehousing, etc.)
    MBA or advanced degree is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the Transportation / Warehouse industry, with Planning and other Logistics proficiencies preferred. Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end supply chain strategy is fundamental to this challenging role.
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
    ERP / INFOR experience preferred
  • Strong supply chain and logistics knowledge and familiarity with general manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution flow and operation
    Ability to quickly learn and use a variety of system tools.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills
  • Ability to influence members of cross functional teams strong negotiation skills are a plus
  • Self-motivated and results oriented
  • Experience in industry trends and best practices for carrier and 3PL environments. Must have experience in procuring (purchasing) freight, and leading / driving freight bids.
  • This role may require up to 25% travel (if not located in Berlin) otherwise 10 %
  • German Level B2 or higher is a plus due to the lead of two german direct reports
