Description

Directs the activities of the planning, purchasing, material control, and shipping teams in pursuit of world class supply chain management and coordinates operations-wide activities to effectively manage inventories to provide exceptional customer service at an effective cost.  Develop strategies in support of breakthrough goals, including improvements in delivery, inventory, and cost.  Identify breakthrough activities, resource them appropriately and apply Kaizen activities.  Develop a DBS culture and team to ensure smooth business growth and management succession.
Essential Functions (specific duties may vary by location):
  • Manages daily activities of the purchasing department in procuring required materials at the lowest possible cost.
  • Builds rigorous procurement planning and execution systems and improve where necessary.
  • Maximizes material availability to ensure high levels of productivity and customer service via on-time delivery.
  • Reduces excess inventory to improve working capital turns and maximize effective use of physical space.
  • Directs Shipping team with targets to drive fast delivery at high quality and low cost.
  • Works with Operations teams to maximize the effectiveness of Kanban systems.
  • Creates and executes long-term improvement projects by identifying breakthroughs, building the matrix and bowling chart, and ensuring action plans are resourced.  Drive a culture of stretch goal attainment utilizing DBS.
  • Develops and monitors monthly operating budgets.
  • Ensures all associates are knowledgeable of, and comply with, all work policies and Quality system requirements.
  • Evaluates Associates performance and conducts review. Recommends hiring and termination. Coaches, trains, and counsels associates to improve performance.  Works closely with HR Dept. to resolve issues resulting from unacceptable associate’s behavior.  Top-grades talent as required to ensure a strong team.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated change management
  • Data and Fact-Based problem solving skills, Lean Mfg./6 sigma knowledge desired
  • Scheduling and planning skills
  • Basic financial skills
  • Time management skills
  • BS Degree, 5 yrs minimum materials and/or management experience
  • ISM / APICS certification desired
