JOB PURPOSE:

This utility position is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnosis of all machinery and equipment within the plant. It is also responsible for providing manufacturing technical support to department engineers and designers to optimize process efficiency. Will provide accurate paperwork and record keeping.  Must have the ability to use measuring and test equipment as required, follow all company rules and policies as well as OSHA/EPA regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform minor electrical repairs & installs.
  2. Recommend and implement maintenance improvements to increase equipment reliability.
  3. Follow specifications for maintenance activities from engineering and equipment manufacturers.
  4. Interface with production as appropriate to ensure production equipment readiness and performance.
  5. Troubleshoot and diagnose machinery effectively to minimize production loss.
  6. Estimate time and materials needed to perform maintenance tasks.
  7. Maintain records and reports of service/work performed inside MP2 management system.
  8. Hands-on troubleshooter for equipment and production problems.
  9. Evaluate existing processes for potential improvements.
  10. Concise reporting of production issues to management.
  11. Produce prototypes as assigned/required.
  12. Develop standardized set-ups, speeds, and feed rates.
  13. Back-up for quality control function within the department.
  14. Hands-on implementation of OFIs as assigned.
  15. Prepare and maintain records as required.
  16. Ability to read and understand complex instructions and work from schedules.
  17. Accurately use measuring devices as required.
  18. Use personal protective equipment as required.
  19. Good mechanical skills and troubleshooting ability.
  20. Commit and become knowledgeable of Continuous Improvement initiatives within the Department.
  21. Maintain an acceptable level of all Company Policies.
  22. Assist other team members as instructed by your Team Leader or Supervisor.Perform other duties as required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Ability to lift and carry over 60 lbs. Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, reach, squat, kneel, push, and pull for long periods of time.  Must be acapable to steadily use the hands for the operation and manufacturing of equipment. Able to climb a ladder and flex the upper and lower body. Must be able to read and write simple statements. Able to analyze, memorize, and conduct and comprehend simple mathematical tasks. Be able to make decisions and have sound judgment.



TRAINING/CERTIFICATION

Will be trained and certified on all aspects of the position.  Training is typically conducted over a prescribed period of time and may require working at night. When and if training certification is required, it may consist of taking and passing one or more comprehensive test(s) based on classroom materials, computer training information and/or field hands-on training comprehension demonstrations. When and if training certification is required, the incumbent will be asked to renew his/her certification at regular intervals when or if lack of certification level knowledge is demonstrated. Must maintain a satisfactory level certification when required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to work alone and around others. Be able to have verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Must be flexible to work various shifts, work hours, different days of the week, and extended days. Able to work during daytime or nighttime. Must be able to withstand temperature changes, work in greater than ambient temperature inside and/or outside, and around dirt, dust and/or hazardous chemical materials.

Each incumbent is assigned a pre-determined work schedule to follow by their Team Lead or Work Center Supervisor.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Maintain accurate records, logs and collect any necessary date for use by Maintenance.

2. High school diploma or equivalent.

3. Minimum of five (5) years related work experience at Journeyman level.

4. Working knowledge of maintenance operations and equipment.

5. Ability to work with technical personnel.

6. Must be self motivated.

7. Use protective equipment as required.

8. Other duties as required by management.


 KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Requires a high school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired.
  2. Able to read and understand written instructions.
  3. Must be accurate with both calipers and micrometer. 
  4. Strong mechanical aptitude.
  5. Strong team attitude.
  6. Experience in like work centers.
  7. Must be knowledgeable of Hazardous Waste handling
  8. Electrical and/or PLC experience is a Plus

SKILLS:

  1. CNC machine maintenance a plus
  2. Working knowledge of single and 3 phase industrial electricity and power distribution.
  3. Ability to size and run conduit.
  4. Working knowledge of AC and DC drives. 
  5. Understanding of mechanical and pneumatic  systems.
  6. Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance concepts.
  7. Familiar with HVAC operations and components.
  8. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  9. Understanding of basic machine operation and design principles.
  10. Ability to plan the fabrication, installation and repairs of machinery, equipment, and building components/systems.
  11. Utilize computerized Preventative Maintenance system.
  12. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  13. Ability to work with other disciplines in a team environment.
  14. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Computer literate.
  16. Low voltage controls and PLC knowledge a plus.
  17. Ability to read and understand written instructions.
