Description

As key member of the R&D team, he/she will:


1.    Participate in new product development (product definition, feasibility study, concept and build prototype, verification & validation, design transfer).


2.    Provide documentation for CE, UL or other standards along with design.


3.    Work with cross function team to ensure product design to meet the requirement for manufacturing, cost, service, and regulations.


4.    Assist in supply chain selection and production process (assembly and inspection) development.


5.    Design products to meet customer needs, product quality and manufacturability; can take a lead role for small development projects.


6.    Provide solution based on project needs and Leica SOP requirement. On time deliver task assigned.


7.    Assist Mechanical Engineering Manager to support team and product development.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

1.    Minimum B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering; M.S. degree is preferred.


2.    Minimum 7 years working experience in mechanical design, testing, and manufacturing.


3.    Familiar with new product development process and regulatory, ISO13485, ISO14971 etc.


4.    Strong hands on knowledge of plastic (injection) on both design and manufacturing.


Rich experience in complex product mechanical structure design; sufficient knowledge to support project from the beginning of VOC to design transfer.


Experience in medical device or life science product development is preferred.


5.    Hands-on experience and solid capability in:


a)     Excellent CAD skill. Pro/E (Creo) is preferred.


b)     Excellent mechanical design knowledge for such as sheet metal part machine part, plastic part, casting part etc.


c)     Good problem solving skill (root cause analysis, FMEA, Reliability etc.) and technical communication ability. Good knowledge of tolerance analysis (GD&T), FEA etc.


d)     Familiar with common surface treatment, material properties of popular metal, plastic, or other materials


e)     Good sense of DFX. Experience with Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Testing, and Cost.


f)      Good knowledge of safety standards or regulatory process in product development.


6.    Must be a team player. High self-motivation. Act initiatively and proactively. Sense of driving result and moving project forward.


7.    Behavior with integrity.


8.    Can work under pressure.


9.    Learning on the fly.


10. Good interaction.


11. Good English communication ability (verbal and written). Global collaboration experience in cross function organization.
