Our SLS Laboratory is looking forward to

welcoming a Laboratory Technician to the team

 

Position Objective:

This is a great chance to work for a large and dynamic global organisation. An opportunity has now become available for a Laboratory Technician to join the Fluid Technologies & Asset Protection Laboratory team in Madrid.  In this role you will be assigned responsibility for laboratory projects, generating test data to specified protocols.  You will play a key role in our SLS Lab team supporting our customers in the Fluid Protection & Asset Protection markets.

In this role the Laboratory Technician will:

Test work

  • Perform routine assignments with guidance and direction from others. Write test reports (In French if required).
  • Test preparation
  • Review job request, relevant safety data and fully understand requirements in accordance with laboratory SOPs
  • Determine availability of required equipment and materials – prepare or order required materials
  • Review timelines and discuss schedule conflicts or modifications with laboratory management (and project manager, where necessary)
  • Document preparation appropriately using datasheets or laboratory notebooks
  • Performing test
  • Assemble test apparatus
  • Correctly operate, understand and be able to troubleshoot all equipment/instrumentation necessary to support testing
  • Perform test work according to laboratory request requirements. Record raw data directly onto datasheets or into laboratory notebook. Immediately notify laboratory management of any test delays, problems or deviations

Test completion

  • Disassemble and clean test equipment and work area
  • Record any remaining test information
  • Create an accurate and timely laboratory report reflective of the laboratory request requirements. Report hours spent on project
  • The role requires generation of test data using the correct process-related test methods to specified protocols.
  • An Associate Scientist will be expected to document non-conformances and initiate exception reports in a timely manner as well as participating in investigations as required.
  • An Associate Scientist will typically be allocated responsibility for completion of up to six tests each week in addition to undertaking general laboratory support activities:

o    Monitor stocks of consumables and raise purchase requisitions as required. Ensure certificates of conformance are received, checked and filed for all relevant items.

o    Maintain storage areas for customer test samples, dispose of samples via the appropriate waste stream as required.

o    Assist with equipment calibration and maintenance, maintenance of stocks of Pall test articles, environmental monitoring, and completion of applicable documentation.

o    Assist other members of the team to complete their defined responsibilities when required.

 

Supporting activities

  • Understand how various laboratory systems (including purchasing, calibration, materials inventory) are maintained. Responsibility for maintenance of such a system may be assigned
  • Assist with general laboratory housekeeping
  • Develop technical contribution
  • Attend training courses as required
  • Follow assigned work schedule and meet expected target dates
  • Attend customer audits as required

Job Requirements



Qualifications

The successful applicant will have:

  • Medium or High Vocational School in Laboratory analysis (same/similar as Associate degree in Chemistry level 4 or 5 of MECES)

  • Language: Spanish and French fluent. English desirable

  • Good time management, prioritization and organization abilities, good attention to detail

  • Ability to exchange information accurately, ask questions and check for understanding

  • Confident following defined procedures and executing work instructions

  • Team player, assertive, self-starter, shows initiative

  • Good written and verbal communication, and numeracy ability

  • Proven experience working with PC based programmes and systems including Excel; familiarity with SAP an advantage
