POSITION OVERVIEW:

A customer-focused
Electrical Design Engineer is required to design,
integrate and verify key technologies on
world-class, state-of-the-art analytical instruments.  Emphasis will be on analog and mixed-signal design
within a product development environment
In this capacity, the candidate will be part of high-performance,
multi-disciplinary teams participating in all phases of product development, including product commercialization and concept realization with our engineering and scientific community.
The individual will also perform problem-solving activities through
collaboration with multiple engineering disciplines, while following established guidelines, procedures and design practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Collaborate
    with the engineering, research
    & scientific community to generate and validate
    design concepts and technologies targeting current
    and future products.  

  • Support Design Engineers
    to implement designs, develop design specifications and perform analyses
    to show design compliance at technical reviews.

  • Generate design solutions
    based on flown down high level system requirements.

  • Support the creation of
    functional test plans & procedures, including functional
    verification to confirm the design meets requirements.

  • Assist or lead the build
    of electronic modules to test against test plans, troubleshoot as
    necessary and summarize results.

  • Support sub-system design and
    integration efforts, in accordance with performance, cost,
    schedule and reliability
    objectives.

  • Develop,
    review  and release product documentation for electronic
    modules and subsystems consistent with
    documentation guidelines. 

  • Work closely with multiple
    product development groups throughout the product
    development process (eg Firmware, Software,
    Systems Engineering, Hardware verification and
    validation, Manufacturing Engineering).

  • Provide
    technical support to released products to
    improve manufacturing yield, field reliability and/or product cost.

  • Work
    within a Lean Six Sigma/DFSS framework to
    improve business/department-level productivity
    (emphasis on cost reduction, design for robustness/reliability and
    removal of non-value-added steps)

Job Requirements



Qualifications


  • Bachelor's or  Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic
    Engineering or Applied Science, or its equivalent.

  • Candidate must be proactive,
    results-oriented, self-motivated and willing to be part
    of a larger team, working in collaboration
    with senior engineers.

  • Candidate must have strong
    organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication
    skills. 

  • Interest and/or
    experience in design and integration
    of analog & mixed-signal (analog/digital) circuits is a
    strong asset.

  • Interest in developing
    experience and expertise in analog design.

  • Experience
    with schematic entry tools (eg Viewdraw, Orcad), analog
    simulation software (eg PSPICE, Hyperlynx) is a strong asset. 

  • Hands-on experience,
    building, assembling and testing PCBA’s is an asset.

  • Familiarity with ‘lean’
    business initiatives such as DFX (Design for
    test/manufacturability/ cost/etc) is an asset.
