Systems Architect

Overview of Position:

The Global SSD PLM Architect will be working with trade compliance, business and functional leaders, stakeholders, security and compliance representatives, and other IT architects to define, design and implement solutions against NIST 800-171 requirements that meet DOD Regulation for the handling, and protection of Covered Defense Information (CDE) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). The PLM environments at Pall are comprised of many CAD/PDM systems around the globe, supported by Lotus Notes databases and local file systems. The PLM environment and architect role will evolve over time leveraging emerging technologies for improving productivity, info-security, and compliance for engineering and manufacturing processes. This role will be interacting with Commercial, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Compliance. This will be a challenging, but highly rewarding role which will allow for defining the security and compliance model to both meet pending regulation as well as define the PLM system of the future.

The candidate for this role should be experienced in engineering systems, PLM, and the end-to-end commercial, engineering, and manufacturing process. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of both PLM and security and compliance. The candidate will need to work with people from multiple organizations including the business representatives, trade control, security and compliance, and PLM architecture and development. This will be the lead IT role in the PLM space for Pall Corp, and will coordinate all IT project stakeholders for the existing systems, and the systems of the future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the domain requirements & technical discussions relative to security and compliance architecture for PLM

• Analyze, design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan as part of the larger program, based upon current vs. future state of security and compliance

• Work with Program Management, Compliance, and key business stakeholders to develop a security and compliance sustainment process, as well as plan for implementation of guiding principles for security and compliance across PLM

• Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in solution development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams across Pall.

• Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentor others throughout the domain

• Influence diverse groups to make Key Design Decisions and agree on to-be processes for upgrading the PLM environments

• Work with different teams to understand requirements, reconcile conflicts and decompose high-level information into details and vice versa

• Drive and challenge PLM businesses on their assumptions on the design requests for PLM to drive out of the box solutions

• Coordinate the use of external IT resources involved, including, but not limited to, interviewing, negotiating contracts and fees, and managing external resources.

• Provide regular reporting on the current status and risks of the IT workstream to senior business leaders and stakeholders

• 20% Travel

Job Requirements


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree
  • 6+ Years’ Experience of working in a global PLM environment 
  • 3+ years experience working for a manufacturer or related industry
  • 7+ years Working experience with technologies like Matrix1,
    Enovia, Dassault, PTC, SAP, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
  • Skilled in negotiation to align stakeholders and communicate a single synthesized perspective. Balances value propositions for competing stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of technologies in the market to help make buy vs build recommendations, 3rd party input, and any peer benchmarking
  • Able to verbalize what is behind decisions and downstream implications
