Description

Main role / Job Objective:
A Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for resolving escalated service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, and for maintaining and overseeing the technology of their assigned accounts and a variety of systems and IT lab environment (both internal IT and SW engineering). This role is a key position within the infrastructure team and will be called upon to resolve the highest level technical issues.

This position will lead the deployment, maintenance and continuous improvement of the IT systems (Production and R&D), as needed by the Esko business. Its main focus is to keep the environment running and to assist Esko IT in reaching its next Infrastructure maturity level.
Leads the day-to-day operational support for server, storage or network infrastructures and coordinates improvement plans and projects.

Main responsibilities and key activities: 
  • Manage and install (in case this is not handled by an external partner) assigned server, network and client hardware, operating systems and application software. Examples are:
- Microsoft Windows or other operating systems for server and client technologies.
- VMWare ESX and vSphere virtualization technologies.
- Nutanix hyperconverged
- Citrix

  • Manage AD (Active Directory) and Group Policy in a mixed Windows/Mac environment. Troubleshoot and resolve GPO (Group Policy Object), AD replication, security, and permissions.
  • Assist in 2nd line troubleshooting activities for assigned server, network and client hardware, operating systems and application software (performance related).
  • Create reports for IT management concerning systems performance and usage: 
- Review system logs and alerts; respond according to documented procedures
- Monitor and report on performance for all assigned servers, applications, and technologies.
- Perform ongoing capacity and performance planning for all assigned servers, applications, and technologies.
  • Work with and guide external partners used for IT managed services to come to best solution for Esko in any given circumstances.
  • Develop and document procedures around IT systems administration.
  • Ensure alignment with IT security policy and corporate standards.
  • Give input to the IT Software and/or Infrastructure Architect for new directions or any adjustments to the technology roadmaps. When needed acts as the infrastructure Architect.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in implementation and support of relevant Microsoft Windows servers and client operating systems in a software development environment. This include advanced experienced with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, security and policy design and technology support.
  • Expert in powershell scripts & Office365 in a multi-tenant environment
  • Hyper-V, vSphere, Citrix, SQL, and Terminal Services
  • Windows server 2003 – 2016
  • Nutanix or other hyperconverged solution experience
  • VmWare Vcenter
  • Experience: 2+ years in LAN networking using Cisco equipment and configuration.
  • Up-to-date knowledge about IT infrastructure components (servers, networking, security, storage & data management).
  • Critical thinking skills for effective problem analysis and resolution are required.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and provide timely and responsive services to the business key users is required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher level of education. Typically computer science background.
