We are recruiting a Senior IT Systems Engineer you will be an integral part of our IT Infrastructure team, in our Global HQ in Ghent! 

Your main focus will be to keep the IT system and environment running smoothly, as well as assisting this business function in reaching its next Infrastructure maturity level.

As being responsible for resolving high level technical issues, you will be involved in many activities, ranging from service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, maintaining and overseeing the technology of assigned accounts and a variety of systems and the IT lab environment (both internal IT and SW engineering). 

You will lead the deployment, maintenance and continuous improvement of the IT systems (Production and R&D), as needed by the Esko business. Assist in the day-to-day operational support for server, storage or network infrastructures and coordinates improvement plans and projects in a structured way.

Main responsibilities and key activities: 

Manage and install assigned server, network and client hardware, operating systems and application software or coordinate with 3rd parties.
  • Microsoft Windows or other operating systems for server and client technologies
  • VMWare ESX and vSphere virtualization technologies
  • Nutanix hyperconverged cluster
  • Citrix farm
  • VMWare vSphere virtualization technologies.
  • Managing and troubleshooting Active Directory and Group Policy Objects in a mixed Windows/Mac environment.
  • Configure and troubleshoot users, groups and and permissions.
  • Assist 2nd line in troubleshooting activities for assigned server, network and client hardware, operating systems and application software (performance related).
  • Create reports for IT management concerning systems performance and usage: 
  • Review system logs and alerts; respond according to documented procedures
  • Monitor and report on performance for all assigned servers, applications, and technologies.
  • Perform ongoing capacity and performance planning for all servers, applications, and technologies.
  • Work with and guide external partners used for IT managed services to come to best solution for Esko in any given circumstances.
  • Develop and document procedures around IT systems administration.
  • Ensure alignment with IT security policy and corporate standards.
  • Give input to the IT Software and/or Infrastructure Architect for new directions or any adjustments to the technology roadmaps. When needed acts as the infrastructure Architect.

Job Requirements


  • 5+ years in implementation and support of relevant Microsoft Windows servers (2003 – 2016) and client operating systems in a software development environment. This include advanced experienced with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, security and policy design and technology support.
  • Advanced experience in powershell scripts & Office365 in a multi-tenant environment
  • Hyper-V, vSphere, Citrix, SQL, and Terminal Services
  • Nutanix or other hyperconverged solution experience
  • VMware Virtualisation technologie and Hyper-V
  • 2+ years in LAN networking using Cisco equipment and configuration.
  • Up-to-date knowledge on IT infrastructure components (servers, networking, security, storage & data management).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher level of education. Typically, Computer Science background.
