Informatics Implementation Specialist


  • In close collaboration with the Sales organization this role is responsible for demonstrating, advising customers, specifying needs, deploying and maintaining Leica Informatics offersfrom specimen tracking, printer based solutions and Epath solutions within the histology environment.
  • The Informatics specialist support the sales team to demo and design Informatics workflow and works within other Pathology Solutions team member to provide customers with Informatics Application services executing the deployment at customer sites, by interacting with customer IT, Lab Seniors and BU if needed to deploy the components.
  • The Informatics specialist will work closely with the customer to finalise and deploy the Leica Informatics systems in accordance with specifications agreed prior to any deployment.
  • The Informatics specialists provide training and competence based training with the customer.
  • The Informatics specialists will provide support and assistance during and after any system goes live with Leica customers.
  • As a frontline company contact, The Informatics Specialist will be responsible for upholding all company policy and compliance regulations and will maintain good communication and working relationships with end users to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Traveling required, to customer sites, BU’s, congresses. Focus on the supporting a selected region in sales and service activities and data gathering. A minimum of 70% of your time will be spent travelling with some out of routine laboratory hours working required.


  • Analyse laboratory workflow and layout to deploy Leica Informatics Solutions in a region.
  • Support laboratory specific Informatics needs to enhance Informatics solution, which will best support the customer site and in accordance to any deployed systems contract ad terms across all sales teams (PI, HI, HC and AS)
  • Work in close contact with the individual sales account and Business Development managers to
    • Run Workshops to educate and train end users
    • Develop programs be used by Sales Reps for printer based/ePath/Cerebro solutions
  • Utilize sales tools based on the identified needs of individual accounts:
    • Interfacing of Cerebro with departmental LIMS
    • Presentation support to Sales account manager for technical enquiries.
  • Ensure the products are positioned to promote Green and LEAN histology and effectively - create a culture to our customers that LBS sells system solutions, not just instrumentation
  • Product launches and software updates:
    • Work in conjunction with the BU’s, regional marketing and Sales account managers to prepare the launch and rollout of software upgrades.
  • Other support activities
    • Working with Global Support to address major, persistent service issues.
    • Assisting with Global Support and local Service Management to ensure all products in field is of recommended Configuration Management.
    • Assisting in product demonstrations for key personnel as per Sales/Marketing requirements and agreed upon by Support Management
    • Work on other ad hoc local projects

Job Requirements


Position Qualifications:

  • University qualification around Pathology or Imaging, or software applications
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge on basic network configuration and setup such as firewall, setting fixed IP
  • Knowledge on basic Microsoft SQL 2008/2014 to perform queries and backups
  • Knowledge on required Mirth Connect HL7 interface engine to customise Leica CEREBRO interfaces
  • Knowledge on Windows 2008 server to perform schedule maintenances, performance and optimisation
  • Proven ability to learn in technical areas with limited previous experience
  • Proven ability to support IT systems during entire Product Life Cycle
  • Ability to evaluate customer needs and selectively ‘sell’ and support benefits of a particular product
  • Ability to identify product improvements and effectively communicate their benefits to the development teams
  • Fluency in English – local language is a plus
  • Successful record of dealing with external parties, such as third party IT vendors
  • Some experience with histology equipment and laboratory processes
