Position:

The position owner is the onsite HR leader of a manufacturing plant in Marburg Germany and HR Business Partner to L&D EMEAI. In addition providing support to a number of key HR projects to support the European Operations.


Reports to:
Senior Manager Human Resources Europe
Missions:
  • Human Resources Business Partner - Works closely with Senior Leadership and associates to define and executive HR strategies which enable the accomplishment of company objectives including, but not limited to workforce planning and succession planning. Partners with business unit leaders to improve organizational effectiveness by diagnosing issues in the workplace and identifying appropriate strategies to resolve problems, improve team performance/ effectiveness and development of people strategies that support the business needs
  • Project Management - Effectively partner with assigned client groups and the HR team to identify and implement strategic HR priorities by translating business strategy and requirements into value adding approaches to change management and workforce planning
  • Industrial Relations - Partner and lead negotiations with the local Works Councils. Experience and understanding working with German works councils is essential. Demonstrated track record of building effective positive working relationships and negotiating agreements in an effective manner

  • Performance Management - Drive the Performance Management process within the business. Work with managers and associates to identify and address performance related issues. Provide coaching and support to managers on corrective action items including performance improvement plans and discipline issues

  • Training - Identify training needs for the associates and engage external vendors to provide appropriate outplacement solutions for our associate population to support them during and after transition if needed.

  • Compensation - Manage compensation programs for the business including annual merit review and incentive programs, retention, and attendance motivation and severance packages as needed. Provide expertise and advice in the areas of industry best practices regarding salary guidelines, external pay practices, competitive market philosophies and compensation administration in order to ensure compensation equity across the organization

  • Compliance, Policies & Procedures - Work with attorneys as required ensuring legal compliance including but not limited to country-specific employment regulations. Act as liaison to governmental Compliance agencies as required

    Employee Relations - Apply conflict management skills to facilitate resolution when associate-to-associate or manager to associate conflict arises. Investigate (interview, gather evidence, consult legal) allegations of employee misconduct including harassment, discrimination, etc. Guide and mentor management on disciplinary and termination processes. Engage company attorney for counsel when necessary

  • Employee engagement – Establish and maintain a program of employee engagement initiatives to support morale and productivity of employees during a period of change.

Qualifications

  • Ability to solve moderate to difficult problems effectively and manage multiple high priority tasks
  • Experience in working for multinational companies and across multiple countries/cultures
  • Exposure to and comfort with higher management
  • Experience of working in a high performance/ metrics driven culture
  • Experience in participating in complex and cross-functional initiatives, processes, or projects
  • Experience in partnering with Works Councils
  • Solid knowledge in German Labor Law
  • Experience in recruiting, compensation, and  employee relations
  • Solid skills in: consulting, contracting, mediating, negotiating, coaching
  • Languages: Fluent in German & English (written and verbal)
  • Bachelor's degree required with 8+ years of experience; Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience with emphasis in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development or related field preferred or a degree as HR Specialist and proven/relevant experience of 10+ years in Human Resource
  • Professional HR certification preferred
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Exposure to the concepts of consulting, conflict management, and interpersonal and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to earn credibility across leadership
  • Experience interacting with regional audiences within an organization
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Well organized with the ability to work to tight deadlines
