POSITION
SUMMARY:
   This person with advanced scientific and/or medical training will fill
the role of Hematology-Oncology subject matter expert in Cepheid’s Medical and
Scientific Affairs and Strategy team for Oncology.  .  They will function as the primary
interface between Cepheid Oncology and external customers and collaborators
involved with pre- and post-market products  in the Cepheid HemeOnc portfolio.  The
Manager, HemeOnc, MSASO will report directly to the Vice President, MSASO.

ESSENTIAL
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
   The Manager, HemeOnc, MSASO will
work directly with the VP, MSASO to accomplish the following goals:

1.     Educate internal stakeholders across all
departments at Cepheid in the principles and practice of Hematology-Oncology as
it relates to various diseases of interest to Cepheid.  This will be
accomplished by way of a series of lectures that will be given on a monthly
basis.  The Manager, MSASO will give several of these lectures in the
HemeOnc space.

2.     Identify and establish a working
relationship with external collaborators from academia and/or industry with
whom Cepheid will pursue the development of precision diagnostics for use on
the GeneXpert System.  The Manager will guide those collaborations,
especially as they relate to the validation and demonstration of the clinical
utility of GeneXpert productsdesigned for use outside the US (CE-IVD), as well
as implementation studies for on-market Cepheid Oncology products.  The
Manager will also work collaboratively with other members of the MSASO team to
support collaborations involving pre-clinical and US-IVD clinical studies using
Cepheid Oncology products, but will not be primarily responsible for their
management and tracking.  These activities will be performed in close
collaboration with members of the Cepheid Oncology R&D team.

3.     Communicate results of research studies
involving Cepheid Oncology products to a wide range of audiences through
abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and oral presentations.  The Manager will
also aid in the recruitment of individuals to serve as medical and scientific advisors
to Cepheid in the development of Cepheid products.  These activities will
be performed in close collaboration with members of the Cepheid Oncology
R&D and Marketing teams.

4.     Manage and address queries about Cepheid
HemeOnc products in collaboration with the technical support and R&D teams
at Cepheid.  


Job Requirements



Qualifications

MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS: 

1.     MD, PhD, or PharmD degree with
Heme-Oncology focus.  MD and clinical
laboratory experience preferred.   

2.     Exemplary character and integrity.

3.     Ability to analyze and interpret
research data accurately and communicate it clearly to a broad range of
audiences.

4.     At least five years of regulated (e.g.
IVD) industry experience working in Medical or Scientific Affairs, Clinical and
Regulatory, or Research and Development functions.

5.     Ability to work in a complex
cross-functional environment flexibly.

6.     Ability to function as a member of a
high-performance team.

7.     Ability to manage timelines and budgets
effectively.

8.     Strong interpersonal skills.

Physical
requirements/abilities:  
The Manager, HemeOnc, MSASO will need
to travel throughout Europe as required in order to attend conferences and meet
with customers (eg. to give talks on Cepheid products) and collaborators. 
Several trips to Cepheid HQ in Sunnyvale, CA are expected.  There will be
some ability for global travel as well as Cepheid HemeOnc products achieve
uptake in Asia and other locales.
