Description

  • ForteBio is looking for a candidate to join the R&D team to manage the hardware engineering group.
  • The candidate will be a member of a R&D team and works with associates and customers to define and develop solutions that give Molecular Devices a unique position in this market.
  • The candidate for Manager Hardware Engineering will be responsible for communicating with cross-functional teams to identify requirement gaps in order to define and prototype new products to meet customer requirements. 
  • The successful candidate will need to have in depth knowledge of technology, instrumentation for use in laboratories.
  • The right candidate can drive product development to further grow the strategic position of Molecular Devices in this market.
  • Efficiently works under pressure and deadlines, and works to complete assigned tasks on time and on budget.
  • Ability to lead and mentor team in the design, build and  testing of instrumentation for the Life Sciences.
  • Provide technical oversight, monitor progress, identify risks/issues and work with Project and Product Managers  to oversee the hardware team in order to deliver high quality products on schedule.
  • Work with cross functional teams to identify gaps in customer workflow.
  • Evaluate new technologies, and provide a technical point of view for feasibility.
  • Effectively communicates (verbal and written) new insight and ideas with cross-functional team.
  • Investigate new technologies, and work with marketing to identify gaps, based on VOC, and turn them into proposals for new technologies that solves customers challenge better than any competitors.
  • Ability to work with other engineering groups, product management and scientists to define and prototype solutions.
  • Ability to work and apply the Danaher Business Systems approach to development technologies

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Bachelor of Science degree minimum, PhD preferred) in Life Science, Biology, Microbiology or related subject with hands-on knowledge of cell biology and cell analysis techniques and applications.
  • Prefer 5+ years experience in product development for Life Science Research. Market, customer and technology knowledge in the development of scientific and Life Sciences instruments. Ability to transfer final designs to manufacturing and operations, including packaging, transportation/shipping requirements, standards testing and QC testing requirements
  • Prefer 3+ years’ experience managing a team of local engineers, developing resource plans and timelines.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate innovation along with research and development of new break-through products and features
  • Understand complex instrumentation and system designs involving optic, electrical, mechanical and firmware with the ability to analyze and document the system
  • Ability to author and present complex data to engineering, marketing, scientists and management.
  • Experience leading a development team in the prototyping and development of instrumentation in the life sciences market.
