Position summary

The Global Product Manager will define the strategy, product requirements and drive the introduction of new coding products based on robust VOC (Voice of the Customer). The role will also provide proactive support that enables our sales organizations to win, and make Linx a market share leader, via the following activities:

– Providing products that meet our customers marking and coding needs and have distinct and advantaged value propositions

– Equipping our sales teams with the necessary tools and training in order to effectively convey to target customers the advantages our products, services and organization provide

– Ensuring the ongoing quality of the products and world-class level of support is maintained

– Proactively driving demand creation across the organization

Duties and responsibilities

•         Co-ordinate Linx involvement in cross-PID (Product Identification) technology development and commercialisation activities for Laser and TTO product lines

•         Understand and participate in a co-ordinated PID development/commercialisation strategy.

•         Ensure that Linx customer segments are well served by appropriate engagement, VOC and product specification.

•         Develop a unique Linx product/positioning suitable for our channel/go-to-market route in order to grow maximum PID revenue between VideoJet and Linx.

•         Product management

•         Understand market and competitor trends

•         Specify future roadmap and product range requirements based on voice of the customer, competitor and market analysis

•         Provide business case for new developments, and work with development team to deliver products to specification

•         Set and have approved pricing for new variants/options and existing products.

•         Develop and drive sales and marketing and distributor support initiatives

•         Develop and execute product launch marketing plans, and post launch campaigns, develop marketing and sales tools. Note: marcomms will be implemented by the marketing team; this role will deliver content and sales messages but is not a marcomms role.

•         Monitor performance of product in the fields to ensure sales meets targets.

•         Understanding our marketplace

•         Source voice of the customer, translate into functional requirements for new coder variants, and software offerings

•         Gather and analyse market and competitor product information, to provide advice and information to Linx and its distributors.

Job Requirements


Education required:

•         University degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related studies

•         Diploma in marketing qualification (CIM) desirable

•         MBA highly desirable

Work Experience:

•         Experience in business to business marketing function within a product marketing role

•         Will have worked within in manufacturing environment with experience of NPD or within one or more of the market sectors

•         At least 5 years of marketing expertise including product launch and VOC

•         5+ years of experience as a leader, strong communicator, with effective interpersonal skills

•         Marketing experience with industrial products to market manufacturers is strongly preferred

•         Experience with P&L and can extrapolate for P&L

•         Experience of working within an international marketing team is highly desirable

•         Exposure to sales environment (e.g. sales support experience) would be beneficial

•         Packaging industry knowledge is helpful but not essential

Knowledge & Skills:

•         Knowledge of new product development processes from customer requirement to post launch product lifecycle in a B2B environment

•         Preferable knowledge of technical/software product development

•         Distributor channel marketing desirable

•         Ability to assess and synthesise strategy from market intelligence

Work Environment:

Office based with UK and overseas travel required (estimate 20-30% of time) with overnight/several days’ overseas visits possible (travel may occur in peaks, e.g. for Voice of the Customer visits).
