Goal of the Position:
The role of product management spans many activities from strategic to tactical. Listening to the market means first observing problems and then solving them. In other words, a company must be market-driven (market pull). Product managers act like change agents, have a strong business orientation and motivate others with a compelling product/market pair.  Their objective is to find the best way to describe market requirements in order to create and position a product that will attract the right customers.  Being the voice of the market back to the company is where product managers make the strongest contribution.

As the Product Manager Allegro Storage Portfolio, you will be responsible for engaging with our customers on Allegro Biocontainer and systems to translate business requirements and customer problems into problem statements and product concept maps for our development teams. The PM will guide Engineering and suppliers in the design of features and management of the deployment through the release process.

As Biotech Core portfolios have a high degree of annuity business, Biotech Core product managers need to drive and execute portfolio optimization and sustainability programs through the complete post launch product Life cycle 


Main Duties
  • Create and maintain the business portfolio plan;
  • Provide oversight of product strategy;
  • Involved through all stages of a product family’s lifecycle;
  • Operational involvement.

Job Specific Tasks:

Create and maintain the business portfolio plan
  • Provide oversight of product strategy
  • Define and size market segments
  • Own the product portfolio roadmap
  • Describe market requirements in order to create and position a product 
  • Analyze market problems, product solutions and how customers gain value from business offerings (duality of the product/market pair)
  • Seek new market opportunities
  • Monitor and incorporate industry innovations
  • Analyze the competitive landscape
  • Conduct win/loss and VOC (Voice of Customer) analysis
  • Conduct technology assessment
  • Define user personas for individual products
  • Position the product for all markets and buyer types
  • Promotion strategy
Involved through all stages of a product family’s lifecycle
  • Maintain a portfolio status dashboard
  • Analyze product profitability and sales success
  • Pricing strategy
  • Rationalization
  • Scale-down and business development tools
Operational involvement
  • Consult QA in case of significant quality issues
  • Support manufacturing in capacity planning and product shortage

Job Requirements


Education, Skills and Competences:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related life sciences discipline. MBA preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in practical bioprocess applications, marketing, product management or sales in the biopharmaceutical industry;
  • 3+ years of experience in technical sales or marketing of biopharmaceutical manufacture process related technology;
  • Demonstrated success in product launches and end-to-end execution of marketing strategies;
  • Ability to do product demonstrations;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required; experience working in a matrix environment and managing multiple priorities and projects with dynamic timelines to execution;
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; at/up to director/ VP level;
  • Focused and results oriented;
  • Change agent with proven track record successfully navigating a matrix organisation;
  • Knowledge of the Internet and prior experience utilizing the web as a marketing vehicle;
  • Experience working in a highly technical organization interacting with scientific and technical personnel, including field sales personnel and engineers;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects; 
  • Experience managing and driving change throughout the organization;
  • Courageous problem solver;
  • Ability to identify new opportunities for growth and communicate these opportunities successfully, including management through to execution;
  • Ability to translate marketing data to business recommendations;
  • Strong business and quantitative analytics background;
  • Clear sense of urgency and business impact;
  • Mastery of the leading advanced market research principles & practices, including conjoint analysis, customer panels, cost of ownership modeling, and other research techniques;
  • Up to 40% travel, including domestic and international travel to customers, meetings, and technical conferences/exhibits.
