Position Summary 
The Formulation Specialist is responsible for daily production including monitoring, formulating and filling of GMP manufactured products according to batch records and SOP.  This individual will support manufacturing KPIs and deliverables.

Major Responsibilities 
  • Responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule 
  • Follows written work instructions. Must maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment. Proper use of required PPE
  • Weighing, measuring, and checking raw materials to ensure batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities
  • Operate equipment such as scales, volumetric glassware, peristaltic pumps, filters, pH meter,  pipettes, and pneumatic fillers
  • Accurately complete batch record documentation, all appropriate logbook entries, and GMP documentation
  • Perform root cause investigations for quality issues
  • Perform batch record and SOP revisions
  • Perform inspection, labeling, and final packaging of the manufactured product
  • Cleans stills, other equipment, and relevant work areas.
  • Perform validation activities as needed
  • May occasionally be required to work weekends and overtime as needed 

Job Requirements


Required Education, Experience, Skills
Experience/Skills: Blending and formulation experience

Education:  BS Degree in Chemistry
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/5S a plus
  • Relevant industry experience a plus 

Travel: 0%  

Language:  English (Spanish a plus) 

  • Must be goal oriented, results driven. 
  • Familiarity in computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP). 
  • Relevant life sciences manufacturing experience and familiarity with blending and formulating processes in a cGMP/FDA regulated environment
  • Must be able to perform fast-paced operations and repeatedly perform multi-step simultaneous operations with a high degree of accuracy
  • Effectively communicate while wearing a respirator mask
  • Must be able to work effectively in a group and independently
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of normal job duties
  • Comfortable working in a fast-changing small company environment and able to adjust workload based on changing priorities

Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, most work is in an office environment setting.  Lighting and temperature are adequate.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with the occasional noise level to where hearing protection is required.
