The successful candidate will perform customer support activities including installation, calibration, service and repair of instruments and ancillaries on customer sites. Working on a wide range of customer facilities with a focus around Municipal Waste water / Drinking water and industrial effluent but also including Food & Beverage, Life Science, Power generation and industry related laboratories or commercial businesses.

The ideal candidate will be based in the lower southern region of England ( Salisbury - Winchester - Basingstoke), with instrumentation experience, an electrical / electronic qualification and a desire to travel across the lower Southern region to support their customer base.

  • Carry out installation, general service repairs, maintenance functions and calibrations on equipment within customer premises primarily in the Southern England area but at times extending their reach to support the UK and Ireland supporting the wider team. This will be undertaken under the direction of the UK office centralised dispatch planning team.
  • To Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to complete the relevant service-related activity.
  • Prepare Inspection service reports and keep necessary service records.
  • To control own spare parts inventory and calibrated tooling, to ensure that spares and equipment movements are processed through the appropriate system.
  • To undertake visits in an economic way to ensure efficient customer service and plan needed nights away in an effective and logical way.
  • Maintain tools, spares, equipment and company vehicle in good condition; keep them secure and report any loss immediately.
  • Provision of telephone support in response to customers or intercompany technical queries.
  • Actively assist in the promotion of future service work in conjunction with colleagues in Sales.
  • To carry out or assist with other duties by agreement with Supervisor and Service Manager.

Job Requirements


  • The successful candidate is required to have previously lived within and / or worked the region and have a detailed understanding of the local geography.

  • Mechanical, electronic & electrical aptitude with a qualification in at least 3 – 5 years’ experience as service technician or in an instrumentation/calibration role.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Computer literacy is an important part of the role, with good overall IT skills coupled with familiarity with standard office packages.
  • Good communications skills are essential.
  • The ability to work alone for the majority but also be able to work well within the team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel at times long distances and lodge out (up to 4 nights/week if so required).
  • Candidate must hold a valid clean driving license.
