Provide maintenance and repair service for all makes and models of research laboratory instrumentation. Requires electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skills, strong team and customer service skill sets.

  • May be required to perform any or all of the following as assigned:
  • Maintenance and repair of laboratory instrumentation
  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on a wide array of research instrumentation.
  • Perform onsite repairs for laboratory instruments on a wide array of research instrumentation.
  • Supervise repair service calls that require external vendor.
  • Manage Instrument Movement
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Disassemble, move, and reassemble instrumentation for instruments moving lab to lab.
  • Prepare, pack, and arrange transport of surplus instrumentation moving to off-site locations, being sold, moving to surplus, or being donated.
  • Training
  • Participate in continuous ‘on the job’ training for all makes and models of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Keep up to date with all customer-required compliance and safety training.
  • Keep up to date with all Beckman compliance and safety training.  

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to prioritize daily activities and determine what requires immediate attention.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills.
  • Must be able to remain calm when dealing with difficult customers/peers or situations and have strong communications skills both with internal associates and external customers.
  • Must be a true professional at all times.
  • Team orientated, positive attitude and motivator.
  • Ability to adapt
  • Must be flexible and understanding with change as it occurs regularly for a service engineer throughout his/her day/week.
  • Must be able to think quickly and respond positively to those changes.
  • Strong deductive reasoning and problem‐solving skills.


  • 2 year technical degree 
  • 5 + years’ experience troubleshooting, investigating and resolving standard technical problems that may arise. 


  • Degree with focus in Biomed or Electronics or Engineering 
  • MET or BMET
