Description

Based in Framingham, MA or Redwood City, CA, the field application scientist will support and drive Applications and methods development that support a growing CE & Biopharma business. 

As part of AB SCIEX’s vision to further expand on its market leading position in analytical instruments, the successful candidate will be the primary marketing contact for complex applications related troubleshooting, diagnosis and general support on CE & CESI-MS instrumentation.  
Provides guidance to sales staff, participates in the pre-sale customer qualification process including product demonstrations, and contributes to financial growth objectives for both Life Science sales and service teams. 
Provides input for changes in product development, maintenance and system standards; adheres to technical standards, recommends process improvements. 

Key Accountabilities:
* The development of an applications laboratory with a primary focus on the analysis of samples in support of future sales.  
* Demonstrate problems solving skills in order to develop proof of principle analysis.
* Manage a sample analysis program by providing comprehensive reports and presentations outlining results to other scientific investigators.
* Responsible for providing sales tools including application bulletins, peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations where this technology can be used as an enabling/disruptive tool.
* Provide on-site analysis of customer samples in support of required sales demonstrations

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Education, Key Skills and Competencies:
* B.S. Chemistry or Applied Science and at least 2 years applications experience in industry, Ph.D. Analytical Chemistry or Related and at least 2 years of industry related experience preferred.
* Proven publication record in separation science including mass spectrometry and nano scale separations.  
* Bioseparation and capillary electrophoresis expertise is preferred.
* Skilled communicator, with an ability to effectively communicate with customers and internal stake holders.
* Extensive travel may be required up to 50%.
