The VAVE Supervisor is responsible for leading the reduction of direct material cost, improving instrument functionality and instrument quality through VAVE and supplier change projects. The VAVE supervisor will lead projects team by pulling together drawings, specification packages and managing test/validation plans.  Moreover, the incumbent will analyze and recommend future projects that will result in improved instrument cost, performance and quality.  A successful incumbent will work effectively with a cross-functional/global staff and supply base.  This position provides an opportunity to develop new processes across a highly technical organization. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain VAVE activities, procedure and process improvements, work out multi-year VAVE planning and align with corresponding departments for planning of resources
  • Lead global VAVE activities including supplier resourcing and design change by R&D to optimize company cost structure continuously
  • Make annual VAVE plan and manage VAVE implementation
  • Understand the process of project realization and change management and its updates, build good working relationship with change management team of customers
  •  Monitor annual VAVE plan and specific VAVE project implementation progress, organize the management of corresponding departments or company to push for actions while deviations are identified
  • Continuously improvement both for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensure year-over-year improvement in instrument quality
  • Work directly and communicate regularly with international suppliers in Asia, Europe and the US.
  • Make supplier development plan, improve supplier’s management, budgeting and finance controlling, optimize supplier cost structure
  • Lead cost analysis, support on program quoting and supplier price negotiation

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in an Engineering field
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience including 3+ years of leading an engineering team or managing a program
  • Understands product realization and change management process
  • Familiar with market situation, cost structure and specification of machining, optical or electrical components
  • Understanding of corporate finance and quality management
  • Excellent logical analysis and systematic problem resolving capability
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Experience in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement methods desirable
