Manages all engineering activities within a department including design, development, production and testing. Implements and maintains overall engineering objectives and initiatives. Confronts and solves performance/operational issues to improve development efficiency. Leads and develops the engineering team. Oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Provide input into developing the budget and capital equipment purchase justification, ROI. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop manufacturing engineering team in support of company objectives. 
  • Develop and monitor yearly individual team members objectives, mentor career development. 
  • Partners with Quality, Production, R&D and Sustaining to develop and execute the site’s plan for moving new products from R&D to Manufacturing. Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing, Design for Cost, Design for Supply Chain, GD&T.
  • Direct the use of statistical process controls to analyse and determine process capabilities, identify trends, and prioritize issues for resolutions.
  • Manage & direct maintenance team, supporting machine up-time and PM program.
  • Lead and support plant kaizen activities to improve quality and eliminate waste.
  • Provide expert level knowledge utilizing structured problem-solving tools such as PSP, 5why, FMEA, DOE, A3, SPC. to resolve quality issues and improve Manufacturing Assembly and Packaging processes.
  • Promote a continuous improvement lean methodology culture (Green or six-sigma black belt certification is a plus).
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with FDA regulations (21 CFR 820) and ISO 13485:2003

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Material Science) or equivalent of 4+ years technical leadership experience with production machining, metal forming packaging and assembly in Automotive, Aerospace or Medical Device.  

Preferred Skills: 
  • Manufacturing process development expertise.
  • Advanced technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in the development and the execution of Verification & Validation protocols.
  • Experience with new product development NPI, NPD.
  • Machine equipment automation and fixture design experience.
  • Ability to interact and influence in a cross-functional technical team environment.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time, including internationally
  • Proficiency work within a regulated digital CAPA, FDA regulated quality system, Master-Control a plus.
