Description

Position Summary:

 

The Advanced Development Engineering Intern will assist the Advanced Development Department technical staff in on-going research & development activities in the area of 2D and 3D dental X-ray imaging. Co-ops will have the opportunity to work with a world-class team on advanced topics such as digital X-ray sensors, 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography and other related enabling technologies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop and code image processing software using Matlab

  • Design and develop test fixtures evaluating the imaging performance of 2D digital X-ray sensors and 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography machines (requires ability to work independently, do hands-on work in a research laboratory environment and Matlab programming)

  • Investigate competitive products and benchmark imaging performance

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Qualifications:


  • Current Junior or Senior in Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics or Computer Engineering with a GPA or 3.0 or higher.

  • Must be able to do hands-on work in lab environment

  • Must be proficient in the use of Matlab

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Exposure to LabView & LabView FPGA programming is a plus

  • Exposure to image processing software such as ImageJ is a plus

  • Exposure to 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Creo and experience with 3D printing of designed parts is a plus

  • Course work in the area of Computer Vision and Image Processing is a plus
