• Individual contributor for R&D projects (90%)

o Formulation development of polymers systems for melt processing

o Process development for thin film thermoplastics

o Materials characterization (rheology, microstructure, mechanical properties)

• Equipment maintenance (10%)

• Domestic and/or global travel required: 5 -15%

Job Requirements


Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline with a focus towards polymeric materials.  Master’s degree preferred.

• Relevant work experience in industrial R&D, product/process development, and/or manufacturing - 3-7 years for candidate with MS degree, 5-10 years for candidate with BS/BE degree.

• Experience in polymer processing (melt compounding, extrusion, injection molding), preferably including systems with solid fillers

Preferred Qualification

• Working knowledge of polymer blending, metrology, and data analysis

• Experience with surface interactions and surface modification processes preferred

• Strong record of creativity/innovation preferred

• Ability to work as a part of diverse, multi-functional teams, and lead individual project segments.

• Ability to operate and maintain laboratory and pilot scale manufacturing equipment.

• Ability to generate and execute experimental plans and communicate results.

• Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
