Description

Our innovative analytical solutions for cell and protein biology enable our customers to see more, do more, and know more, and to answer life's most important questions. This growing portfolio requires adding a skilled embedded systems engineer.  We are looking for someone knowledgeable in firmware, software, and systems design to help advance our imaging hardware platform, using the latest techniques and practices.  The successful candidate must be self-reliant in designing and implementing new components, while improving and building upon an existing code base, and will report to the Engineering Manager.  Significant development opportunities exist within the portfolio to increase the understanding of firmware architecture as well as optomechanical systems, while collaborating with a growing team to drive breakthrough innovation in cell and protein imaging. 


Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and debug changes to new and existing firmware systems
  • Share in code and design reviews with agile team
  • Create test programs for component and systems verification
  • Work with systems, optical, electrical and mechanical engineers to plan, design, and build high-performance systems
  • Work with software engineers, testers or technical support to reproduce and debug issues in existing and new products
  • Create sustainable, well-organized, efficient code
  • Maintain code in modern source control systems
  • Follow best practices in modern build automation

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 3+ years experience in embedded systems firmware development
  • Proficiency with C, microcontroller IDEs, Free RTOS, Visual Studio and state machines
  • Experience with C++, C# and .NET preferred
  • Experience with motion control preferred
  • Experience with FPGA and Altium designer preferred
  • Experience with GIT, Perforce, or similar source control system preferred
  • Experience working successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and help the team succeed
  • Results oriented – has track record for delivering results, takes ownership and is accountable
Additional Considerations:
  • Experience with image analysis, computer vision, machine learning
  • Familiarity with design patterns
  • Familiarity with FMEA, and DFX tool sets
