Description

As an integral member of the Systems Engineering Department, the Systems Engineer II is responsible for contributing and leading the cross-functional teams in various phases of a project from concept to the final product release. He/she is responsible for design of experiments and design risk analysis for proper verification and validation activities required for a project ensuring both software and hardware designs result in solid, well-engineered products.


Major Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Systems Modeling of a design (cost, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability)

  • Manage engineering projects in accordance with established quality system procedures

  • Develop system requirements and specifications and other system level design description documents, dFMEA and pFMEA

  • Develop V&V protocols and test cases

  • System Integration of Control and Imaging functionality as well as final testing including compliance

  • Present and defend designs in design review meetings

  • Provide 2nd-level support for operations (manufacturing, installations and customer support)

  • Post-release monitoring of a product. Lead the required design improvements as needed

  • Assist in design transfer knowledge to the manufacturing and service groups

  • Use creativity to invent new solutions

Qualifications

Required Education / Skills / Experience

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Physics, or similar technical field.
  • 5+ years Systems Engineering experience in a technological industry
  • Broad engineering knowledge, with depth in at least one area
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage engineering projects
  • Demonstrated ability to generated V&V protocols and design risk assessment analysis for a significantly sized systems project (Hardware + Software)
  • Working knowledge of digital imagery, optics, microscopy, or related field
  • Extremely creative, innovative, problem solver
  • Ability to work closely with small teams as the engineering leader
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Engineering development work experience in regulated medical device companies
  • Working knowledge of Mechatronics and measurement systems and SW/HW tools
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Working knowledge of hardware/software interfacing and motion control
