Our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) & Facilities department is looking forward to welcome a


EHS & Facilities Manager

Position objective


Leadership of Pall Newquay EHS & Business Continuity Programme:

•            To ensure Pall Newquay meets all Corporate and local EHS improvement goals including Legal compliance, Recordable Injury Rate (RIR) reduction, Danaher & Pall EHS audit performance, waste and utility reduction

•            To maintain site certifications to ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 22301

Facilitation of Corporate EHS Improvement:

•            To participate in Corporate EHS audits of other sites

•            To assist the EHS Director in Company-wide EHS improvement

Leadership of the Pall Newquay Facilities

•            To maximize the medium and long term profitability through the efficient and effective leadership of Facilities Department, Facilities Capital Projects and Continuous Improvement activites.


Position responsibilities: 

Leadership of Pall Newquay EHS & Business Continuity Programme;

  • To provide leadership for the Newquay EHS Improvement and Business Continuity Programme and to ensure the site remains at best practice levels of performance

  • As part of the Leadership Team provide strategic leadership on EHS and give regular updates on performance

  • Supervise EHS personnel and advise the Pall Newquay team on all EHS requirements

  • To facilitate the implementation and improvement of EHS Management Systems in all areas and to ensure safe systems of work are established

  • Liaison with the EHS Director to stay abreast of all Legal and Corporate requirements

  • Liaison with the Global Business Continuity Leader to remain up-to-date with current best practice and Corporate requirements

  • Monthly and quarterly reporting of EHS and Business Continuity data using Danaher and Corporate systems

  • To ensure the site certifications to ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 22301 are maintained

  • Arranging for and as necessary, carrying out training and mentoring of employees

  • Management of Danaher and Company EHS Audit response action plans

  • Maintain and improve systems to ensure that injuries, near misses and hazards are reported, followed up & investigated as necessary.

  • Analyze trends in EHS incidents to facilitate actions to reduce injuries and illnesses.

  • Work with HR and Occupational Health to ensure that suitable health surveillance is in place

  • Ensure that Risk/ COSHH assessments and control measures are in place, that assessments are suitable and sufficient and also that the system is maintained.

  • Leadership and facilitation of the Monthly EHS Team and Management Reviews

  • Ensure EHS inspections / audits of the workplace are carried out to confirm EHS systems are working effectively and are sustained.

  • Liaison with consultants and insurance advisers to ensure delivery of improvement action plans

  • Work with Lean (DBS) tools and participate in lean events.

  • Incident Controller for the facility in the event of an emergency situation, including liaison with the outside agencies and inspectors

  • Facilitate and assist with Corporate EHS and business continuity initiatives as necessary

Leadership of Facilities team

  • Prepare, implement and monitor Facilities strategic long term business plan for the substantial growth of profits.

  • Prepare, implement and achieve an annual site budget which complies with the Life Sciences policies and guide lines.

  • Implement a structure and policies which enable the site to comply with all legal requirements. This includes Quality, Employment, EHS and Medical devices.

  • Lead and direct the Facilities team to ensure the objectives and KPI’s are achieved in accordance with the sites annual targets.

  • Actively support global and regional stakeholders to enable sustained and future growth of products associated with Pall Newquay.

  • Key member of the Medical Life Sciences management team on ad-hoc projects, reviews or development activity for the Newquay site and Companywide.

  • To plan, manage and deliver projects to agreed constraints, highlighting and proposing solutions to overcome constraints or violation of metrics.

  • Lead allocated team members in project planning and execution, determine and monitor deadlines, progress any inhibitors to delivery.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project metrics to team members and stakeholders with attention to risks and issues.

  • Implement and support continuous improvement actions/projects and best practice project management replication throughout the Company.

  • Coach and guide others on project management techniques.




Responsible for the site EHS budget. Prepare, implement and achieve an annual site facilities budget which complies with the Life Sciences policies and guide lines. Authorisation of purchase orders within the budget requirements.

Job Requirements


The successful applicant will have:

Basic Qualifications

•                     NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent                                                  

•                     Environmental Qualification

•                     Lead Assessor

•                     Degree qualified in engineering or relevant discipline



•                     To work safely and to comply with the company’s environmental, health & safety           (EHS) policies and procedures.

•                     Passionate about EHS & Continuous Improvement

•                     Conscientious

•                     Prepared to learn the skills and competencies as required by the department

•                     Attend courses and meetings as required to improve skills and knowledge

•                     Ability to manage and deliver projects.

Knowledge & Key Skills:

•            Proven track record of implementing EHS Management.

•            Proven experience in the Management and Methodology of Facilities, Projects            preferably within an international High Volume / FMCG manufacturing          environment.

•            Proven track record of delivering change with experience of World Class Manufacturing techniques.

•            Self-starting individual able to manage and deliver targets for multiple projects.

•            “Can do” attitude to focus self and team on project delivery.

•             Strong Leadership skills, working with people and taking responsibility for issues.

•             Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills.

•             Excellent Time Management and Organisational skills.
