Description

The District Service Manager is responsible for the service business within the assigned district and for directing the activity of all field service engineers to achieve the district’s service support objectives and business plan. Serves as owner and point of contact for escalated service activity within the district.  Responsibilities include achieving/exceeding assigned installation, maintenance and repair targets through effective coaching and development of employees, identifying and implementing process improvements and changes to increase the group’s effectiveness and value to its customers, and managing all aspects of direct reports job performance and career development.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs and coordinates the daily activities of service personnel to achieve service and business objectives
  • Communicates with other department managers to identify potential improvements in the quality of services and/or support provided
  • Ability to defuse challenging internal and external customer/employee situations
  • Identifies service, technical and workflow skill sets assessment and mentoring to their direct reports
  • Develops and tracks performance objectives for all direct reports and effectively addresses and resolves employee issues
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, either through team interactions or presentations to clearly articulate business objectives strategies
  • Effectively strategizes and drives district business objectives
  • Responsible for meeting/exceeding business objectives (Revenue/Orders/Margin/OP) for the district.
  • Manages district company assets including inventory, company cars, and tools.
  • Establishes a regular cadence of activity reports for the purposes of driving business and proficiency improvements.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, goal setting, evaluating performance, salary administration, career development for the district.
  • Responsible to meet/drive all compliance objectives
  • Working knowledge of life science products and workflows.
  • Communicates regularly with sales colleagues to drive business objectives
  • Drives commercialization of SCIEX products

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Leading, participating and identifying opportunities for improvement utilizing Danaher Business System tools.
  • Must possess strong management skills to effectively manage and direct Field Service Engineers to achieve district business objectives
  • Able to develop others through demonstration, coaching and counseling
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to set priorities and mange time effectively
  • Ability to identify customer needs and issues and develop realistic solutions to meet these expectations and to solve problems
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be able to influence and negotiate with people and resolve issues with employees and customers
  • Ability to identify opportunities, risks, and resources required to deliver business results
  • Ability to manage and direct resources aimed at clearly articulated district business objectives
  • Ability to instill customer satisfaction that is recognizable and valuable to the customer
  • Prior experience using and/or servicing mass spectrometry or related scientific instruments is preferred
  • Leadership experience managing a project, group and/or teams
  • Expert communication skills both written and verbal
  • Travel by vehicle or airplane within assigned geography, up to 75% overnight travel required.
  • Meeting Vendor Credentialing requirements are an essential element of this position.
