role is responsible for overseeing and driving new product development, design
modifications to existing products and innovation for the Core Histology
portfolio with upon strategic prioritization with emphasis on consumables and
close ties to the Core Histology equipment portfolio.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provides
    strategic technology leadership and direction to the Core Histology consumables
    business to drive competitive advantage and enable markets on a global basis to
    realize significant market share growth.
  • Builds
    long-term strategic product roadmaps, in partnership with the Product
    Management, Marketing and Sales to integrate the efforts of the global
  • Leads
    the product development in the design and development of new products and
    design transfer to manufacturing.  Supports
    product lifecycle initiatives.
  • Leads
    Core Histology Consumables R&D team. Motivates and inspires the multidisciplinary
    R&D team to commit to and execute against stretch goals.
  • Grows
    and fosters talent. Develops technical and leadership capabilities of the
    R&D team. 
  • Develops
    and maintains knowledge of the relevant technology trends and competitive
    developments as input into portfolio strategy.
  • Insures
    that the R&D team maintains compliance with appropriate ISO, FDA and GLP
  • Acts
    as key scientific liaison/interface with regulatory bodies, quality assurance
    groups and customers.
  • Acts
    as key advisor to the business leader on technical matters.

Job Requirements


  • College degree and experience in in chemical, biological
    sciences, chemical engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering required. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Advanced degree is desirable.


  • Minimum
    of 10 years’ experience leading product development teams in regulated medical
    device environments
  • Direct management experience with proven track record
    of building successful teams and developing talent.
  • Proven track record of taking medical device
    product(s) from inception, through development and successful commercialization
  • Deep understanding of design control, stage
    gate development, ISO and FDA requirements for the design, development and
    manufacturing of medical devices
  • Demonstrated experience managing of
    intellectual property creation and portfolio management in the medical device
  • Strategic thinking and planning ability.
  • Experience identifying and scoping
    opportunities for new products.
