Position Summary:  The Director, DBSO Lean is responsible for Leading a Global Team of DBS Fundamental and Lean Practitioners (Corporate Directors) promoting and facilitating the successful implementation of the Danaher Business System (DBS) at DentalCo companies, allowing those sites to meet their Policy Deployment (PD) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.  The Director DBSO LEAN helps to create DBS Sustainability both broadly across DentalCo and in a targeted fashion at Collaboration OpCos / Sites.  

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accelerate results in SQDC by leveraging DBS tools, mentoring skills, and change management processes.
  • Assist OpCo and site leadership in the development of a DBS roadmap to meet PD / KPI requirements and DBS Sustainability
  • Collaborate / Mentor at the highest levels (President and L1 Leaders) to provide ‘productive tension’ at Collaboration and broadly to utilize DBS properly to drive sustainable results.
  • Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and mentoring at Gemba
  • Facilitate other DBS training sessions when appropriate (other trainers, Practioners, Installers and mentors from Danaher or Shingijutsu)
  • Assist in achieving OpCo and / or site Policy Deployment and KPI objectives 
  • Regularly participate in L1 or L2 PD reviews
  • Continue to evolve DBS tools, as prioritized through the annual DBSO Strat process
  • Ensure impactful kaizen events at mentored OpCos or sites
  • Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate DBS tools to eliminate them
  • Improve DBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing Practioner and Installer certification in DBS tools
  • Promote and facilitate associate development in DBS Fundamentals, Lean tools and other DBS tools as required
  • Evaluate and approve DBSLs for Certified Practioner and Advanced Certified Practitioner certification
  • Architect and lead DBS immersion for New Acquisitions and new Operations L1 leaders
  • Benchmark internally in Danaher and externally and incorporate best practices into DBS
  • Support DBS learning across DentalCo via self-help tools such as 1-point lessons, yammer, DBSO Office hours, etc.

This position has a direct impact on the success of DentalCo Corporation with respect to both top and bottom-line growth for it facilitates the successful implementation and sustainability of DBS at OpCos / Sites to shape strategy, focus execution and create value for customers and shareholders alike.

Job Requirements



Must be hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture.  Need to be able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint.  Must be very customer focused and have strong interpersonal and communications skills.  This person LIVES Danaher’s Core Values and holds the standard high for themselves and others regarding our Core Values.  This person will be high energy and able to handle conflict.  Will be an independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult situations.  This Leader must have a strong gemba-orientation (spend time and drive change at the ‘real place’ – where the ‘value happens’).  This Leader will epitomize “DBS Leadership” through 7+ years of Danaher Operations and/or Supply Chain Leadership driving Sustainable Results.

 Education and/or Experience:

  • 7+ years of Operations and / or Supply Chain Leadership experience 
  • BS or BA Degree in Engineering or Business required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Ideally a minimum of Director of Operations experience level or higher
  • Strong Practioner level experience for Dynamic Kanban and ideally IMAG 
  • Experienced managing materials at each stage of the value stream: Raw, WIP, and FG
  • Data Analysis – understanding of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle with proven ability to lead change leveraging these systems 
  • 5+ years’ experience with driving Delivery, Inventory and linked-costs improvements across the extended, Global Supply Chain with DBS.
  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement a DBS sustainability roadmap for an OpCo or site
  • Mastery of DBS Fundamentals and a variety of DBS Lean tools  
  • Superior communications skills
  • Superior mentoring and influencing skills
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing process technologies (e.g., Assembly, Machining, etc.)
  • Ideally familiar with driving change in regulated environments (e.g., FDA)
  • Hands-on experience implementing DBS (or TPS) in a line Leader role
  • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments
  • Good writing and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.).  Must be self-sufficient administratively 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
  • English fluency required.  Additional language skills are beneficial
